What's happening on Ibiza's trendy rooftop bars

Ibiza’s home to some truly amazing rooftop bars and there’s no better time to experience them than in the height of summer.

After a long day at the beach or shopping in the island’s boutiques and markets, the island’s rooftop bars are the ideal place to chill out with a tasty cocktail and get a bite to eat while listening to great music.

It’s now when they are really at their best, offering a cooler, less crowded way to spend the evening in preparation for another night of revelry ahead. They’re also ideal for stargazing, so you can take in the full splendour of the Mediterranean night sky and awesome sights such as the upcoming Perseid meteor shower, one of the highlights of this time of year.

Lastly, with August being the month when Ibiza Town and San Antonio both hold their annual fireworks displays, the rooftops are unbeatable when it comes to affording the best view of these spectacular events.

In this article, we’ll give you a rundown of what's going on in Ibiza’s rooftop bars in the coming weeks.

Ibiza Town

The cosy rooftop bar at the iconic Montesol Experimental Ibiza Hotel in the heart of Ibiza Town is a must-see. Boasting fantastic vistas of the Old Town, Dalt Vila, a cool vibe, excellent DJ sessions every evening, and top-quality cocktails - the mixologists create all their own syrups etc. -  it is the perfect meeting place for groups of friends.

Its select menu has delicious snacks to accompany your drink and - when it comes to filming the firework display in the port on 8 August - it offers one of the best spots.

For a top rooftop dining culinary experience on another level entirely, there’s nowhere like 1742 Nassau Group & Edwin Vinke. Set in a restored palace high above Dalt Vila, the dining experience takes you on a journey which delights all your senses. Its magnificent terrace offers amazing views over Ibiza Town and the port, making it a great spot for drinks and perfect for viewing the August 8 fireworks display. Reservation is essential

In summer, the stunning OD Sky Bar at Ocean Drive Ibiza comes into its own, attracting guests and visitors alike with its superb musical and entertainment agenda and unbeatable views of the sunset, the sea and the Ibiza Town firework display. Friday nights are always buzzing as - on alternate weeks - there’s a promoter music event and its famous event Burger Meets Gin with DJ sets.

Check out the super chic OD Sky Bar for food, cocktails and music along with the chance to rub shoulders with music industry movers and shakers.

Meanwhile, on the first Wednesday of each month, the Sky Bar hosts Analog Explorers, where expert DJs showcase the best analogue sounds. Book your place on the rooftop to luxuriate while listening to their unique vinyl record sessions.

Located in the resort of Talamanca, on the edge of Ibiza Town, Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay is home to some of the white island’s best cuisine. What’s more, it can rightly claim to offer one of the best rooftop experiences on Ibiza thanks to its high-end gastronomy and mixology, breathtaking views and outstanding music.

Bay Unplugged, featuring easygoing music sessions by local artists, takes place on Thursdays. Nobu +1 Fridays see top DJ Erik Pastrana play along with a different live instrumentalist while Ibiza Bay Beats - on Saturdays - are the best way to kick off the weekend.

On a different note, the venue hosts a unique self-care evening with Self Sundays, the ideal way to reconnect with yourself.

The East Coast

With its stunning views of the cove of Cala Nova, in the northeast of the island, Bless Hotel Ibiza’s awe-inspiring Epic Infinity Lounge is guaranteed to wow visitors at any time. And never is that more true than during the summer when it plays host to some great evening time entertainment.

Mondays are home to DJ Erik Pastrana, whose upbeat mixes are accompanied by live performances by top instrumentalists and other special shows to create a unique blend of electronic beats and soulful melodies.

Add the bar’s famed signature cocktails and a delicious menu offering ceviches, tacos, quesadillas, and more and you have all the ingredients for a truly unforgettable rooftop experience.

Santa Eulalia

For a more downtown setting, the spectacular rooftop restaurant at Santa Eulalia's exclusive Aguas de Ibiza Hotel - Maymanta - offers diners panoramic views of the sports marina and the bay of Santa Eulalia as they dine on its innovative Peruvian fusion cuisine.

The West Coast

Over on the west coast of Ibiza, in and around the town of San Antonio, spectacular sunsets are the order of the day at the resort’s amazing rooftop bars. Several of the following rooftop bars provide great views of the firework display on 24 August.

First up, Gravity Bar atop the TRS Ibiza Hotel features a full programme of live performances, jazz, African percussion, and flamenco along with top sounds by the cream of local deejaying talent. Superb cocktails, fine food, great music and a genuinely cool ambience await.

Another option is Rio Ibiza's rooftop right in the centre of town. With views over the marina, its intimate rooftop terrace is a great spot for dining and, for the fireworks, they've curated a special menu. After the display, you're invited to continue partying downstairs in its quirky club room.

A firm favourite among discerning sunset seekers, Rooftop Nine on top of INNSiDE by Meliá Ibiza Beach is another slam dunk for unbeatable rooftop chilling. Its new sunset weekly residency, Islanders, which highlights local musical talent, takes place each Friday.

Lovers of all things organic will be delighted to hear of its new initiative, Organic Wednesdays. Taking place from 13.00 to 15.00, it will feature an exclusive cocktails and smoothie menu using fresh organic produce from Ibiza’s largest certified organic farm, Terra Masia. Don’t miss the chance to sample exclusive, freshly made concoctions ranging from juices and smoothies to lemonades, iced teas and handcrafted cocktails.

Last but not least, around the other side of San Antonio Bay, the luxurious four-star Can Salia Hotel welcomes guests to its cosy, intimate rooftop bar, Sky of Salia.

Throughout the season, Wednesdays belong to top Cuban duo, Candela mi Son, for a night of the very best Cuban salsa. Come prepared to dine on fine fare and dance to the backdrop of one of the island’s most impressive sunset venues! Fridays are given over to unplugged sunset sessions by Yeshe, who will be performing his distinctive mix of soul, funk, jazz and pop. Finally, on Saturdays, Sunset Beats @Sky of Salia sees resident DJ Marty McFly lay down his distinctive selection of music from 18:00 to 22:00 h.

For those in the know, you might consider yourself lucky to participate in their monthly occurring Revitalize your body, mind and spirit event, where the highlight is an ice bath challenge! ... But one with views!

PLAYA D'EN BOSSA

Ushuaia Up Ibiza Sky Society

Located in the heart of Playa d’en Bossa, this 9th floor rooftop bar at the top of the Ushuaia Tower is the perfect place to enjoy views of the beach and the sea stretching across to Formentera as you sip on a high-end cocktail and listen to cutting-edge sounds. Though no particular events take place here, you can, from the edge, see the spectacle of Ushuaia’s legendary parties going on down below. Quite a sight!
