Film from around the world in San An

New series of alternative films at Cine Regio with the theme of revenge.

Zinètic is a new concept coming to Cine Regio, San Antonio's popular cinema for foreign language films in their original language version. Every Thursday between 23 February and 4 May this year, there will be screenings of alternative films from around the world all focused on the theme of revenge.

The series kicks off with Paul Verhoeven's dark thriller, Elle, in which a rape victim tracks down her attacker. Other films being featured include Youth a drama set in a Swiss sanatorium starring Michael Caine, Harvey Keitel and Rachel Weisz.

Fans of Joy Division can see Bafta-nominated Control which describes the last days of the enigmatic front man Ian Curtis.

Cine Regio is a hotspot for people looking to see original language versions of brand new blockbusters and classic movies.

Tonight 22 February, the cinema is showing new movie Fifty Shades Darker, with recent showings including classics like Alien and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. All new movies are announced on the cinema's Facebook page.

Films from Korea, Chile, Holland and many more countries are being included in Zinètic. All the films will be shown in their original language with Spanish subtitles.

The initiative aims to stimulate a dialogue on high quality, non-mainstream cinema. There will be artistic and cultural debate about the films shown all of which cover powerful themes and messages.

It is expected to be a real cultural highlight for San Antonio and cinema goers in general. Even if you can't debate in Spanish, Zinètic gives you a window on a new world of film.

The movies will be screened every Thursday at 21.30 and the admission fee is just €5. For the full programme see our events page.
