Special festive events - Ibiza Town

Dates for your diary include the Ibiza symphony orchestra live, a Christmas country fayre and brilliant treats for the kids including the feast of Spain’s glorious ‘Day of the Kings.’

Head down to Ibiza Town this Christmas and new year for a whole raft of fun, festive events for the entire family. Here's just a few of the best.

To begin with, good boys and girls can leave their very own letter to Santa Claus, who arrives in Ibiza on the 20th of December, from 6:30pm in the Mercat Vell (Old Market) located at the foot of the ramp at the main entrance up to Dalt Vila.

21st of December, at 7pm sees a Christmas concert by the Ibiza Symphony Orchestra, expertly directed by Adolfo Villalonga at Can Ventosa Cultural Centre. A real, traditional Christmas treat for the whole family.

If you fancy something a bit more traditional with its roots in ancient, rural, pagan Ibiza, then get yourselves down to the Xacota Pages, a farmer's Christmas fayre to be held on the central Vara de Rey promenade from 6pm on Saturday, the 27th of December.

For a fab range of children's activities from 5-8pm, proceed with the young ‘uns directly to the Vara de Rey marquee on either the 2nd, 3rd or 4th of January, or, if you wish, all three!

On new year's eve, you can join the Ibiza community bidding a fond farewell to 2014, once again in Vara de Rey. The islanders will gather at 11:30pm to eat the traditional new year's eve grapes to the dulcet tones of the Migjorn Orchestra. The party will continue until 3am around the Mercat Vell (Old Market) and Calle de la Virgen, offering street music and a festive range of international dishes from different countries. Please note that the map link shows the name of Calle de la Virgen in its Catalan form, Carrer de la Mare de Déu, location of Sunrise bar.

Finally, for the grand festive finale, the three wise men will visit Ibiza on the night of January 5th - the eve of ‘Dia de los Reyes' (Day of the Kings). Starting their traditional parade from the port of Ibiza at 6:30pm, this evening is an absolute must for children of any age, who receive gifts of sweets and chocolates from the passing ‘kings.' In fact, it's a fabulous night out for the whole family, with the city streets absolutely bursting with islanders of all ages cheerfully, colourfully (and noisily!) celebrating the culmination of the Ibiza festive season in true carnival spirit.

Bon Nadal!
