Election Special - Who Won?

Once again the beaches of the municipality of Ibiza are to be patrolled by a special force of Mountain biking tourist police!

At last it's all over! After months of campaigning, every billboard on the island in use for electoral propaganda, and the newspapers full of little else, Election Day passed almost unnoticed on 25th May.

Almost unnoticed that is, because only about 50% or registered voters bothered to turn out to exercise their democratic rights. The result was a resounding victory for the Partido Popular, President Aznar's party, which actually polled fewer votes than its main rival, but as happens in so many western democracies, still won.

Our excuse is that we've only had a democracy for 25 years so there's still plenty of time to get it right.
