In a surprise move it was announced last week that citizens of European Union Countries no longer have to apply for residency if they stay in Spain for longer than 3 months.
This will come as a great relief for many people who will now not be obliged to queue for hours at the national police station in Ibiza town with mountains of forms, certificates, and other official paraphernalia to obtain residency.
Quite how other aspects of the residency laws, such as discounted travel to the mainland, will be affected, is unclear yet, but as soon as we know, you will know!
