Location: Between the resorts of Santa Eulalia and Es Caná
Facilities: Sunbeds, daybeds, parasols, showers (turned off to save water), life guard (June - September), bars, restaurants, access for the disabled (via the restaurant at the south end)
Size: 100 metres long, 12 metres wide
Getting there: Reached by car, bicycle, or bus (find timetables here) from Santa Eulalia or Es Caná, only 2 km away. Alternatively, stroll along the coast from either of these resorts (about an hour from both, at a leisurely pace). There are two car parks, one paid from at the south end belonging to a restaurant; and a free one at the north end - this might fill up early at weekends and in peak season. From the free car park you have to walk 5 minutes to the beach, the access is over some steep steps at the end.
The beach
Well signposted on the Santa Eulalia to Es Caná road, this lovely, intimate beach with fine golden sand is fringed by pine trees and tall bamboo. Some pine trees also grow near the shore, so you can put your towel in the shade below. There are views of Formentera and the green hills of the resort of Siesta, just outside Santa Eulalia.
The water shimmers in deep blue and shades of turquoise and is safe for swimming. On the left side of the beach, there is a side arm lined with small pleasure crafts and sport boats. At the entrance of the side arm, there is a pebbly beach and fishermen's huts where you can sunbathe on the rocks.
This is a beach where you can relax and get away from it all as it tends to stay quiet, even in peak season. No loud music spills onto the beach from the restaurants, the atmosphere is generally very relaxed.
Thanks to its shallow waters, it's ideal for families.
Spotlight tips
On the right end of the beach is a small bay with a wooden swing hanging from a tall tree, where you can swing over the water - pure Caribbean feeling. The perfect Instagram motif.
You can walk along the coast to neighbouring beaches. Towards north, a well used path takes you to Cala Pada and further on to Cala Martina, passing other small coves and woodland on the way. Especially the first part up to Cala Pada is very beautiful, walking in the shade of fragrant pine trees along red cliffs, passing small pebbly beaches.
Beach bars and restaurants
There are two traditional restaurants here, both offering extensive a la carte dining options in well-shaded settings.
At the right end of the bay a cute beach bar offers organic food and drinks. Due to its slightly elevated position you have fantastic views from here, watching people enjoying the swing mentioned above.
