Review: Example at Ibiza Rocks, 29th August

No Azealia Banks, but Example in top form and McRackin at the forefront again!

The 21 year old new yorker Azealia Banks was unable to finish her set at Mallorca Rocks on tuesday and cancelled her appearance at Ibiza Rocks on wednesday due to exhaustion so sadly the much-hyped debut of the so-called new "queen of cool" on the white isle, who even got the cover of the latest issue of Pacha mag, didn't happen... boo!

Ste-V-Something, Colin Peters, the real queen of cool Nicola Bear (nice Guns N'Roses t-shirt!) and Doorly did a great job warming up the crowd until it was time for Example!

Elliot Gleave and his band returned to the Ibiza Rocks Hotel for the fourth year in a row and, like the previous times, it was Example's only full live show of the summer in Ibiza. It's quite different to see him accompanied only by DJ Wire than with the band!

Even if the evening started on a bittersweet note due to the last-minute cancellation, as soon as Example hit the stage he made us quickly forget about it. The concert included all the big ones from his second and third releases (including the number one hit singles "Stay awake" and "Changed the way you kiss me" with which he opened and closed respectively), new material from his upcoming new album The evolution of man to be released in november ("Perfect replacement" and "Say nothing") and his recent collaborations with AN21 & Max Vangeli ("You don't have to whisper") and Calvin Harris ("We'll be coming back")... bang on from start to finish with the whole hotel bouncing!

Ibiza Rocks tickets for next week available here.
