Some of the biggest news in 2016 was the announcement of Afterlife on Thursdays. In 2017 the Italian duo Tale Of Us, at the helm of curating the nights for our aural pleasure, returned and took their concept to Privilege.
Afterlife showcases a collection of artists from Life and Death, Innervisions and Dystopian. During the summer of 2017, they rocketed us into space with the kind of sensory overload that brought us all to our knees.
There were mesmerising beats and hypnotic rhythms. Taking us on a journey to otherworldly dimensions, we had the likes of Âme, Antigone, Daniel Avery, Dixon, Jamie Jones, KiNK, Konstantin, Maceo Plex, Mano Le Tough, Mind Against, Nina Kraviz, Recondite and Rødhåd. We were also at the mercy of spellbinding live performances from Âme, Cassegrain & Tinman, Kettenkarussel, KiNK, Mathew Jonson, Monoloc, Stephan Bodzin and Woo York.
Also on the roster, we had Adriatique, Aether, Agents Of Time, Alex.Do, Amandra, Ateq, Baikal, Barnt, Black Peters, Cassegrain, Confidns, Darse, Denis Horvat, Distant Echoes, Etapp Kyle, Hunter/Game, Keith Carnal, Locked Groove, Ovend, Patrice Bäumel, Per:sona, Ryan Elliott, Ryan James Ford, Sa Pa, SHDW & Obscure Shape, Somne, Tijana T, Tin Man, Trikk, Vaal and Voiski.
Of course, the hosts Tale Of Us were at the decks every week, too, as well as having one special all-night set on 20 July. All in all, the season went down as one for the books.
Afterlife landed on the White Isle on 29 June with Tale Of Us, Âme, Antigone, Patrice Bäumel and Amandra. The season ran for 14 weeks until 28 September 2017.
As for the closing party, we saw some hardcore action as Privilege and Afterlife shared the mammoth final bash of the season. The final date saw Solomun as a surprise guest and Dixon with an unexpected return, as well as Denis Horvat, Konstantin, Mind Against, Rødhåd and others. This one was beyond massive, as the biggest nightclub in the world filled to capacity.
Night-by-night details are available below. Anyone sound of mind secured some of this action while on the island in the summer of 2017.
