Earlier opening parties feel like a rebirth, simply by their position in the calendar at the start of summer. However, even some that start later can hold these qualities, simply because of the emotional weight surrounding them.
Ever since Joseph Capriati announced Metamorfosi would be returning to Amnesia, this was the one night I had circled in my diary for those exact reasons.
Out of every party I wanted to experience during my time working on the island this summer, this sat firmly at the top of the list. There was a genuine sense that something special was about to unfold.
Joseph Capriati completes homecoming as Metamorfosi's next chapter begins
Metamorfosi first found its identity at Amnesia before moving elsewhere last season.
Now, as part of Amnesia's landmark fiftieth anniversary celebrations, Capriati has brought his flagship concept back to the club where it all began. Rather than revisiting the past, opening night felt like the start of a new chapter.
Arriving in time to catch the closing half-hour of Max Dean's set, the Terraza was already filling nicely. His rolling grooves kept the room moving while anticipation steadily built for the man everyone had come to see.

At exactly 03:30, Joseph Capriati stepped into the booth. The response was instant. Hands shot into the air, whistles echoed across the room and the dancefloor surged forward in unison.
Looking around, it was impossible not to notice the number of Italian voices in the crowd. Capriati's return to Amnesia had clearly drawn supporters from home, all eager to witness one of Italy's most celebrated electronic exports back at the residency that helped define him.
Without hesitation, he settled straight into his stride, creating the kind of momentum that has become a Joseph Capriati hallmark. Nothing felt rushed. Every transition was considered and every selection given room to breathe, allowing the energy inside the Terraza to build organically.
Returning to Amnesia for the first time since arriving back on the island, I also found myself noticing subtle changes around the club. Most striking was the DJ booth.

Appearing to extend further onto the dancefloor while sitting slightly lower than before, it creates a far closer relationship between the DJ and the crowd. Standing near the front, there was a real sense of connection with Capriati throughout his set.
It's a small adjustment that enhances everything people have always loved about Amnesia: raw, authentic clubbing where the music remains the undisputed focus.
Around the room, production quietly reinforced the residency's identity.
Performers dressed as butterflies moved gracefully through washes of crimson and violet light, offering a subtle nod to the meaning behind Metamorfosi itself.

Transformation has always been at the heart of the concept, and the visuals reflected that without ever competing with what was happening inside the booth.
For all the changes surrounding the residency, one thing remained reassuringly familiar. Capriati's ability to command a dancefloor. Looking across the packed dancefloor, it struck me that Metamorfosi perfectly reflects where Joseph Capriati finds himself today.
Still rooted in the values that made the residency so respected in the first place, yet unafraid to evolve. Returning to Amnesia doesn't feel like a step backwards. Instead, it feels like the natural next phase for both the artist and the concept itself.
By the time I finally stepped away from the dancefloor, I couldn't help but smile.
Sometimes the nights you build up in your mind struggle to meet expectations. This wasn't one of them.

Metamorfosi's return to Amnesia feels both familiar and new in equal measure. The concept has shed its old skin, while staying true to the qualities that made it so compelling from the very beginning.
If opening night is anything to go by, Tuesdays at Amnesia are set to become one of this summer's essential fixtures.
There are still 13 dates remaining, culminating in the closing party on 29 September, giving clubbers plenty of opportunity to experience Joseph Capriati's next chapter where it all began. Tickets are on sale now and available to buy below.
