Some DJs are in it for the glory, others for the simple joy of sharing music with others. There's even a handful who managed to fall into the career out of luck and have remained in the game ever since, as few and far between as they may be.
Another rare breed is the category Roman Flügel falls into.
The veteran German DJ has been around before the semblance of any kind of "scene" existed - and those years of experience are all too evident. His encyclopedic understanding of music makes him just as much an educator, as it does an entertainer.
This coming weekend, Roman Flügel returns to Akasha on Saturday 21 February.
It marks his first appearance at the intimate 300-capacity club, following his date alongside Man Power for OFF BRAND last summer.
The over-qualified selector continues the incredible booking run we've seen in the winter series, since Akasha reopened at the start of the month. He follows in the footsteps of previous headliners Âme (live) and Sasha.
Attendees are promised to walk away from the night, not only having danced their socks off, but very likely being exposed to music they've never heard before, both old and new.
Should you seek dancefloor enlightenment and happen to be on the island this weekend, your presence is requested. You will not leave disappointed.
