While Ibiza may be world-renowned for its nightlife, away from the clubs, the island hides another side that is every bit as thrilling.
Blending cliff-jumping, swimming, and rock climbing along the island’s dramatic northeastern coastline, Coasteering offers a unique way to experience Ibiza’s raw natural beauty.

With crystal-clear waters below, sun-warmed cliffs above, and expert guides from Coasteering Ibiza leading the way, it’s an adventure that balances adrenaline with discovery, leaving you with a new perspective on the island and a confidence boost to match.
Our group consisted of two of Spotlight’s most daring team members alongside three fearless teenagers, all eager to push their limits. To get there, we took a stunning drive through Ibiza’s sun-scorched landscape up to Pou des Lleó, in the island’s sleepy north.
At the meeting point, our professional guides Lauren and Marcos kitted us out with all the necessary gear: wetsuit, helmet, shorts, a buoyancy aid, and climbing shoes. Their relaxed professionalism put everyone at ease, and after a quick briefing on safe jumping techniques (and the all-important tap on the helmet to signal you were ‘okay’), we were ready to go.
A short walk brought us to the water’s edge, where we kicked things off with a simple leapfrog entry into the water before swimming to a rocky outcrop. Here, we were instructed to try the classic ‘cannonball’. The three young lads in our group attacked it with gusto, each creating an almighty splash, followed by Marcos’ miniature tsunami.

Continuing around the coast, we made our way to our next jump spot, climbing up the steep rockface, ready to tackle our first ‘big’ jump. At a height of about 4-5 metres, we were instructed to pencil dive, each taking turns to leap off. It was clear the route was carefully designed to build confidence, with jumps that gradually increase in height, allowing everyone to progress at their own pace.
For our next challenge, our guides led us through a striking natural arch before climbing up the rock face to our highest point yet. The choices were clear: a naturally formed ledge at about 8 metres or the full height of the cliff at 10 metres. To no one’s surprise, the fearless teenagers went straight for the biggest jump, launching themselves into the air fearlessly. The two Spotlight adventurers, KT and Luke, meanwhile, opted for the slightly lower but no less heart-racing drop.
In those moments, one’s instincts scream to hold back, yet the encouragement of the guides makes it easier to silence hesitation. With a deep breath and one decisive step, each leap turned fear into exhilaration.
Smiles all around, adrenaline still pumping, and all of us ready for more, we swam leisurely to our final destination. The last challenge awaited us: the biggest jump of the day. But first, we had to scramble up the rocks, putting our climbing skills to the test before even thinking about the leap.

The trio decided a simple pencil dive wasn’t enough this time, no, backflips were on the agenda!
KT, eager not to overthink, went ‘full send’ and was the first to hit the water while the boys eyed up the dive. When ready, they launched themselves one by one, an impressive display of nerve and skill. Luke, meanwhile, following KT’s lead, kept to the pencil approach, proving once again that he wouldn’t let fear win.
One last leap, and it was time to head back. After a stunning walk along the clifftops, within minutes, we were back at the morning’s meeting point. After a quick debrief, it was time to return the gear and head home.
What makes coasteering special is the way it immerses you in Ibiza’s landscape. You move seamlessly between land and sea, scrambling across jagged rocks, swimming through hidden arches, and launching yourself from towering cliffs. It’s physically engaging, striking the balance between adventure and accessibility.
With expert guidance and a supportive group, it’s an activity that suits first-timers to seasoned thrill-seekers. Many who arrive convinced they’d never jump from ten metres find themselves doing exactly that, surfacing with huge grins and a rush of pride.
For those looking for an exciting adventure, coasteering is a reminder that Ibiza’s natural beauty is just as exhilarating as its nightlife: a mix of adrenaline, breathtaking scenery, and pure fun that ranks among the island’s most enjoyable daytime experiences.
