Caught in the moment | Toman at [UNVRS]

A snapshot from the dancefloor at ANOTR present On A Trip on 15 June.

Since [UNVRS] opened at the end of May, at least one member of the Ibiza Spotlight clubbing team have lapped up one of its weekly residency parties each week. We just can't get enough! However, the first standalone night to be hosted by the new club, saw Dutch House wizards ANOTR showcase their On A Trip tour, Sunday 15 June.

We're used to seeing Jesse and Oguzhan throwing No Art parties all over the world, but this night was made that extra special by being the penultimate stop on their album world tour.

The besties have been on the road since early February, playing thier brand new LP to adoring fans on numerous continents. The fact the album was partially written here, meant Ibiza could not be overlooked as being part of the globetrotting party programme.

If we had to choose only one thing [UNVRS] consistently nails, our go-to answer would be the production.

Having seen first-hand the level of detail and variation brought to each party, we knew the High Scream team would cook up something wild for ANOTR. Understated and alluring, classy and regal; the whole of the main room was hung in pastel drapes that later were projected onto.

Two of the DJ duo's closest musical allies and members of their No Art camp were in charge of warming up the mega sized dancefloor on this occasion. Makèz played the opening set before duties were passed over to another compatriot, Toman. It may have still been relatively early, but the ante was about to be upped.

Toman being one of my favourite DJs, we hit front and centre for the entire set - a spacial dividend for arriving early doors and beating the surge that would follow later.

A regular in my own sets, Toman's productions are in a league of their own. From his own track Emotions on his new label High Ceilings, to gems from Franky Rizardo and edits from newcomer Ninetree, he set the pace with a mix of underground heat and vocal-led groovers.

Josh Baker and Ben Sterling were up next and neither man missed a beat.

Though you don't often see these two go back-to-back, it was like they'd done it numerous times before. The synergy between the both was undeniable, yet at the same time, you could tell which song was being bought in by which DJ.

Ben led with more underground rhythms, whilst the Baker held it down with more lighthearted, well-known tracks of the moment. All of JB’s huge House hits were standout moments, alongside plenty of unreleased edits.

This all came before the headline act came on, we felt like we got our money's worth just from the first few hours alone!

Although this On A Trip showcase was a one-off, within hours of waking up the next day, we were greeted by the news that ANOTR will return to [UNVRS] in September for No Art Ibiza.
