A date to remember with The Martinez Brothers at Hï Ibiza

Tuesday nights in Playa d'en Bossa aren't like Tuesdays nights at home!

Last Tuesday 19 July saw yet another killer party at Hï Ibiza, brought to you by your favourite Bros' from the Bronx, The Martinez Brothers.

Nearly half way through their incredible 2022 residency, at what has been named the Best Club in the World 2022 by DJ Mag readers, the duo go hand in hand with what the mega-venue represents - high-octane and cutting-edge (or should we say Cuttin' Headz?) energy.

Despite a vast amount of competition on the island, the Ibiza Spotlight clubbing team knew that this wasn't one to miss. The line-up this week in particular felt like it had be moulded by the Gods of House music.

With doors open from midnight, those who have spent a lot of time on the island this summer, know to arrive promptly and get there early to secure the proverbial best seats in the house.

Luckily for us, we did not have to wait in the queue that snaked down Playa d'en Bossa - one of the perks of the job! This reporter counts her wins.

Swooping through the eager crowds, we made our way to The Club where Ibiza's very own rising star Anna Tur, kicked things off with a thrusty Tech House set. She was followed by the ever-popular DJ and producer Latmun, who would play before room host Paco Osuna.

Do you know about The Wild Corner, Hï Ibiza's infamous toilet block? For the uninitiated, it is the perfect place to get down to some of House music's more classic tunes. A quick delve into the multi-coloured, flashing-light convenience room is a must during any visit to the club.

London-based promoter Disco Disco was charged with toilet-monitor duties on this occasion. A highlight of the evening for us was the energetic back-to-back performance from Parris and Lloyd, who got the crowd pumping.

To set the scene, their set consisted of old school classics you may have forgotten, which got a noteworthy reception from the packed-out toilets: the Carl Craig remix of Tom Trago's Use Me Again, Odyssey's Use It Up and Wear It Out and Manuel Grandi's Young Heart Run Free.

There might have even been some ABBA. Guilty pleasures central.

Conscious we didn't want to get stuck in the toilets, so to speak, the main event in The Theatre was unfolding. DJ Collective Apollonia, comprised of the triad of Dyed, Dan and Shonky, got the de facto main room jumping until 03:30, warming things up nicely for our revered hosts.

Arriving behind the booth with assured swagger, The Martinez Brothers (TMB) sent energy levels up a few paces. The idolised duo had women and men screaming alike as they rolled out their groovacious track selections and interacted with crowd.

Despite the dizzying profile of the guests, it was self-evident that the people were here mainly for The Bros'. Guilty as charged. Neither us nor our fellow clubbing bredrin were going home disappointed as our hosts lit up The Theatre with their bodacious tunes.

What's interesting about the way The Theatre and The Club complement each other on this night is the contrast between them. The Theatre is a sea of phone lights with super-fans rushing as close to the front as possible, to get within touching distance of heartthrobs Chris and Stevie.

Meanwhile, next door Paco Osuna plays arms up, heads down Techno to an equally packed room, who appear to be there entirely for the music. Osuna's side project has been called "NO WHERE/NOW HERE" with deliberately ambiguity.

The Theatre is where you record memories to relive again and again. The Club is where you go to live and dance in the moment with your phone in your pocket - and that combo really works.

With ten more parties left this summer, steam is far from running out. TMB are not taking their foot off the pedal in terms of the talent in store for the second half of the season.

Still to come, you can look forward to the likes of Marco Carola, Michael Bibi, Mason Collective, Kerri Chandler, Black Coffee, Louis Vega, Loco Dice and plenty more.

Don't walk, run to the bottom of this page for your tickets and to ogle those sexy line-ups. Next up, TMB and Paco Osuna are joined by Chris Stussy b2b Jaden Thompson, Chelina Manuhutu and Manu Gonzalez.
