As the Coronavirus situation has improved and borders have reopened to international holidaymakers, fully vaccinated visitors from the Green Listed EU and Schengen area countries are free to arrive without the need to produce a negative PCR test. However, you MUST provide a copy of your full vaccination certificate on arrival.
Unvaccinated travellers, or those from countries outside these areas, will still be required to test for Coronavirus before arrival and will, almost certainly, have to when they return home. Plus, you might be required to quarantine in your home country too. For Spain, an antigen test and officially endorsed travel certificate is mandatory.
Before leaving Ibiza, it is vitally important that you are fully aware of latest requirements in your return destination. Rules are constantly changing so it is up to you to familiarise yourself with your local regulations. Always check with your country’s Foreign Office guidelines before considering travel.

Nevertheless, ALL travellers from abroad will have to fill out a Health Control Form before arrival in Spain and present the generated QR code at Border Control on arrival.
If you do need to get a Covid-19 test while visiting Ibiza, you have quite a few options. There are two types of tests available that can reveal the presence of virus particles and are suitable for a travel certificate: PCR and Antigen tests. Although some countries will only insist on a PCR test as suitable for travel purposes, an antigen test is often the standard. Rapid tests are NOT usually accepted for travellers. Always check the local regulations at your return destination.
- PCR tests are used to detect the presence of viral RNA, indicating that you are currently infected. The test is carried out in a laboratory and results usually take up to 24 hours to process.
- Antigen tests are quicker and easier to perform but are generally considered to be less accurate. Antigen tests also search for the presence of specific proteins in a sample, which will indicate viral activity.
Important notes:
- Antibody tests are not considered suitable for travel purposes and are not included here.
- No test is 100% accurate and should be considered as a guide only.
- In the event of a positive test result, medical alert protocols will be activated.
