Top 5 reasons to attend Pyramid at Printworks

…and to get excited about its forthcoming campaign in Ibiza 2019.

After a superb sold-out success in, Pyramid is back for its second jaunt outside of Ibiza, landing in London's Docklands this Saturday 23 March.

One of the most exciting new parties to emerge in recent years, This in-house production from Ibiza's Amnesia was one of the roaring success stories of 2018.

Last November was the first time the party exchanged Mediterranean sunshine for the urban backdrop of London as it took over Studio 338 with Sam Paganini and Darius Syrossian.

Ahead of its sophomore season on Ibiza, we list the top five reasons making Pyramid at Printworks unmissable.

Sensory overload

One venue is an industrial warehouse space in East London. The other is one of the original Balearic super-clubs. Printworks and Amnesia might seem worlds apart - but their appetite for cutting-edge, bespoke production means the two clubs share a lot of common ground.

Whilst Pyramid programmed a tight music line-up, it was attention to detail in the lighting, effects and visual department that quickly won over a legion of fans: those lasers and podium dancers are just first rate. In many ways, similarities can be drawn with Printworks' own high-end production.

The cupped triangle hand salute has already become an iconic calling card of the party. Adopted by guest artists and clubbers alike, the gesture has been a recurring motif. Pyramid is a party where aesthetics and expectation combine in glorious unison.

Monolithic headliners

Often euphoric, but sometimes tinged with melancholy, Kölsch skillfully meanders between the two, delivering melodic moments that immerse the dance floor. Deep felt dance music that tugs on emotive chords.

Remarkably, this will be the Dane's long-awaited debut at the Canada Water venue. Occasions don't come much bigger than that.

Ilario Alicante needs no introduction to fans of Amnesia. The Italian has spent many Monday nights entertaining the dance floor in San Rafael. He's also had the honour of closing the Press Halls before, during his last visit to Printworks back in October. Expect another prime-time belter.

Tiga occupies a unique plane within the dance music realm, as respected amongst the underground, as he is accessible to the casual listener. It's an overlap few have mastered. We can't wait to hear those spooky vocals echo around the main room.

Dark, twisted pop music made at 125bpm.

Sensational Live Performance

Talk about representing - Guti, Mathew Jonson, Giorgia Angiuli and more all played live at Pyramid last summer. Even though a later Gaiser show didn't come to pass, Pyramid proved it was committed to showcasing the very best in live electronic music performers.

Imagine our delight that it continues this booking policy at Printworks, with the invitation extended to Matador. The Rukus boss will be recreating his absorbing back-catalogue in the Press Hall.

Interestingly, this appearance is especially fitting in light of news that Matador will play Amnesia's opening party. Having been absent throughout 2018, the party on Saturday 11 May marks his first gig back at the venue in over a year. Top stuff.

A Taste of Amnesia Ibiza

Often International touring club brands can be accused of being a watered-down version of the real deal. Not in this instance. Pyramid has pulled the stops to make its second stop in London as authentic as possible.

Flying out part-owner and resident Martin Ferrer Jnr. AKA Mar-T rubber stamps this as a true Amnesia affair. The fact that he's joined in the booth by good friend and fellow Amnesia resident Luca Donzelli is further proof.

The two go way back and have built up a rapport both behind the decks and in the studio. Their two sets next Saturday are unmissable and will inject a genuine splash of Ibiza magic.

Fellow Amnesia favourites Hector Couto and Mathias Kaden also play back-to-back.

Classy Support Acts

Much like Ibiza, Printworks' 10+ hours of clubbing entertainment allow for rich extended programmes. Whilst it's the headliner which is the main attraction, it's always worth getting down early and seeing the night build. Who knows, you might catch an act previously off your radar?

That could easily be the case here. In Ibiza, we last saw Tristan Ingram rocking the Living Room at Benimussa Park for Clockwork Orange. Who can forget those sessions on the sunset terrace for We Love with his pal Jonathan Ulysses?

Similarly, Bowler & T.Bunts are no strangers to the white isle. The duo turned in a handful of appearances for Together last year. Throw in a special Balearic set from Mar-T and Luca Donzelli, and the Dark Room is seriously worth scoping out.

Once the dust has settled on the former newspaper printing facility and its epic spring programme, you'll be allowed to start dreaming of Ibiza again conscience-free. During the season, island promoters such as ANTS, Solomun and Solid Grooves have all passed through the doors.

However, we're willing to bet that Pyramid steals the headlines from this edition.
Although next Saturday may provide a glimpse of what's to come this summer, very little is known at this point.

All we can say for certain is that Pyramid returns to Mondays at Amnesia, bi-weekly from 3 June to 23 September.

At the opening, micro-house genius Ricardo Villalobos - a staple of last year's roster - is confirmed for the terrace. Meanwhile, techno queen Nina Kraviz is the first name down for the club room. Frankly, their inclusion is tantalising enough. We can't wait to see it unfold.
