HYTE opening night rocks Amnesia

Clubbers could not get enough of techno and house as they all wanted MORE HYTE.

HYTE [adjective] – stark raving mad [Scottish]

If you have heard of HYTE before but did not know what it was about, you need not look further than its given definition. Insane, mad, archaic, psychotic are all words that can be used to describe what HYTE is all about. From the music to the people and just the atmosphere of the event overall, all is htye.

The global house and techno party institution made its return to the White Isle for its opening last Wednesday night and it was nothing short of epic to say the least. Returning to Amnesia for the third year in a row since landing in Ibiza, HYTE came back more prepared than ever to lay down those potent house and techno beats and create an atmosphere void of any kind of apprehension.

HYTE mainstay Chris Liebing kicked things off in the main room, where he played a three-hour set of piercing techno. Blue and red lasers bounced off of the disco balls as the German threw down tracks like Johannes Heil's EXILE 007 B2.

It was clear that everyone had been anxiously waiting for Liebing's official return as the main room was packed at this point. If new HYTE-ers were unsure of what they were diving into, then Chris Liebing made sure to set the tone early for the rest of the of the night.

After Liebing set the pace, American Kenny Dope began starting his set in the terrace. The Brooklyn native put on a house clinic for the Amensia horde playing tunes like D-Unity's Sinner. Nestled in the back of the terrace on the upper level was the mantra for this year's season, a simple MORE HYTE shining in bright LED letters.

HYTE

True to the insignia, it was evident that the people could not get enough and wanted nothing but more HYTE. As Henrik Schwarz took to the decks on the terrace the room began to slowly fill to watch the special live set. Songs like Schwarz's recently released Not Also You had everyone shaking their rumps as its gritty synths pulsated throughout the room.

When 4:00 finally arrived the terrace was packed for closer and self proclaimed house and techno kung-fu master Loco Dice. At most other clubs around the world, 4:00 is the time when things start to die down. Not so at Amnesia and definitely not at HYTE.

HYTE

The real fiesta was just getting started as Loco Dice threw down an onslaught of tech house bangers. Track after track, the Tunisian DJ just kept the crazy beats rolling, playing tunes like Nonfiction's remix of Rae Sremmurd's Swang.

As the night slowly turned into day, with the sun beginning to peek through the opaque rooftop of the terrace, Dice picked up the intensity, slamming down tracks to make sure the mob of people left could keep going. By the time he concluded, the crowd looked a little disappointed as they all still wanted MORE HYTE.

Fortunately for those who are around, there is always next week to do it all over again. Up next we have Pan-Pot, Mar-T, Debby Coda and special guest Erick Morillo on the Terrace, while Chris Liebing, Radio Slave, Guti (Live) and Yaya take on the Club room on 5 July. If, however, you are visiting for only a short holiday, getting your dosage of HYTE is a necessity that must be embraced.
