It has been predicted that if current immigration trends persist that 25% of the population of the Balearic Islands will be foreigners by the end of the decade.
This compares with a figure of 10% predicted for Spain in general by the year 2010. The surprising thing is that it is no longer European citizens that make up the bulk of immigrants to the islands, but people from North Africa and South America.
