Southern US cuisine and the roots of blues, soul, and other North American genres come together in this festival.

Sun 12 Oct, 2025, from 12:30
Where: Auditorium Caló de s’Oli, San Antonio Bay, Ibiza

The Soul Food Fest, part of the Cala de Bou 2025 festivities, organised by the San José Town Council and the Great River Road Cultural Association, takes place on Sunday, October 12, 2025 (a national holiday) at the Caló de s'Oli Auditorium in Cala de Bou, in the bay of San Antonio. The event celebrates southern US cuisine and the roots of blues, soul, and other North American genres.

Following the performances of Chicago blues legends Willie Buck and Laretha Weathersby, who captivated audiences in previous editions, this year’s event welcomes José Ramírez — a U.S.-based artist originally from Costa Rica, widely regarded as the world’s leading Latin bluesman.

The singer and guitarist will be joined on stage by Marino Orejana on organ, Javier Geras on bass, and David Barona on percussion — all well-known figures in Spain’s national blues scene. The show will open with The Soul Connectors, currently touring to promote their debut album Free. Formed in Ibiza, this dynamic group blends rock, soul, and blues, featuring vocalist and guitarist Alejandra Burgos, guitarist Pablo Sanpa, bassist Christian Morana, and drummer David Barona, who will perform twice during the event.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, Betterman DJ will be spinning records throughout the day, while food stalls and trucks will serve up Crawfish Étouffée — a traditional Louisiana Creole seafood stew.

Festivities begin around 12:30 with Betterman DJ’s opening set, followed by The Soul Connectors. At around 15:00, guests can enjoy the Creole stew accompanied by another DJ session, before José Ramírez and his band take to the stage at approximately 16:30, bringing a rousing finale to a day steeped in blues, soul, and good food.

The festival poster is by illustrator, designer, and DJ Ricard Bofill, also known as Ric Jazzbo.
