Top 5: Rising Underground DJs

Our Top 5 'ones to watch' on the underground scene this summer.

Jordan Peak

As a young producer Jordan Peak just keeps on impressing. Immersed in house music from a young age, Peak seems to have an intuitive knack for creating a dancefloor banger, our most recent favourite being ‘I Want You' from the Def Jams EP.

With releases on Raum...Musik, Saved, Tsuba and One Records, plus a series of podcasts for DJ Mag, Ibiza Voice and Exstatic Sounds, house heads are turning and the European bookings are flying in this summer. The good news for Ibiza is Peak plays Carnival at Sankeys on 6th July, Channel Zoo on 20th July and Kehakuma at Space on 1st September.

Subb-an

DJ, producer and joint label owner of One Records, all at only 24 years old. Subb-an has achieved a lot for someone of his age and since becoming a resident at UK night Below in 2005, he has gone on to play further afield at the likes of The Weekend Club in Berlin and The Electric Pickle, Miami. Already this year he has releases on Tsuba, 2020 Vision, Spectral Sound and One Records, dropping vocal deep house bombs like ‘The Lover's Night', as well remixes for Hypercolour, Get Physical and Kaluki Musik.

Playing a number of dates throughout the summer at Sankeys Ibiza, you can also catch Subb-ann at Watergate Berlin, Space Ibiza and Cirque Bonheir Paris in the coming months.

Hector

With his name recently appearing next to the likes of Loco Dice and Martin Buttrich on the London Desolat showcase bill, Hector is well on his way. After some success as a DJ in his native Mexico Hector moved to London, cultivating his musical mind working in Phonica Records Soho store and becoming the first producer to launch the in-house label in 2009. Since then he has had hits with the Piano Hispano EP with Pablo Cahn and churned out releases on Mobilee Records and 2020 Vision. Most recently he has produced house hits like ‘The One' and also done a great remix of our number one man Jordan Peak's ‘Nine Five'.

Djebali

Rolling with the Freak N Chic crew, the Parisian DJ and producer is fast becoming known for his deep and groovy house. Clubbing to the likes of Dan Ghenacia, Ricardo Villalobos and Luciano in his early 20's, Djebali was DJ'ing on the Paris scene until 2008 when his first EP was released on Jaze Haze's label Tuning Spork. The ‘LAX' EP followed on Freak N Chic, as did sets at Bar25, Berlin and Tbar, London, as well as regularly playing at Rex Club in Paris. His warm house sound is perfectly demonstrated in tracks like ‘Talking About Her' and ‘Hold A Way', both released this year.

Djebali will make his Ibiza debut this September at Space when Ugroove presents Lola Ed in the Redbox.

Danny Daze

Exploding onto dancefloors with ‘Your Everything', Danny Daze has become the buzz name of the day. Backed by the likes of Jamie Jones and Seth Troxler, the track fits perfectly with the new wave disco-house sound and has been heard on dancefloors from Timewarp to DC10.

Hailing from Miami, Daze has been DJ'ing since the age of 13 and has had a string of releases in the last year, although ‘Steady Groovin' is the only real strong deep house/disco track. We're eager to see what he comes up with next – a one hit wonder or will Daze deliver the deep disco goods?
