Review: Eden opens its doors for 2016

The famous San Antonio club is officially open.

After last night's opening party at Eden, I can safely say it's taken the title for my favourite San An club - though as a massive fan of Toolroom boss and headliner, Mark Knight, I really didn't expect anything less. It's my first time experiencing everything in Ibiza this season, and so far I've been blown away by what I've seen - but for me, Eden took it to the next level.

Party-goers were raring to go and and by 12.30pm the queue to get in was already out the door. As I entered the club I could hear the distinctive house beats of Mandal and Forbes, who were maxing their chance to rip through the club with Eden's famously staggering sound system. I decided to start my night on the second floor that overlooked the huge, crowded dance floor, soaking up the vibrations before getting into the middle of it myself, of course.

Glamorous dancers were placed on each side of the DJ booth, and they had a constant rotation of outfits throughout the night. First they wore cut-out swimsuits with huge feathery shoulder pads, then they sported Mansion leotards with glittery make-up - their costumes complementing the funky, feel-good vibe perfectly. I studied at university in Liverpool, so before arriving I was well aware of Mansion's wild reputation, but their contribution to the night exceeded my expectations.

While the DJs worked their magic, smoke machines billowed at the crowd and from my view on the second floor, all you could see was clubbers' raving fingers emerging through the mistiness, and people getting over-excited and climbing on to the shoulders of others - a sure sign, if ever there was one, that everyone was having a thoroughly good time. Perhaps this was also something to do with the fact that, in comparison to other Ibiza clubs, the drink prices were reasonable and affordable.

Looking down on to the dancefloor, and most importantly, at Mark Knight, I was in a house lover's paradise. He worked the crowd like a a true spell-binder, throwing big tune after big tune, though the biggest cheer of the night came for his own track with Prok & Fitch, ‘Into my Life'. Everywhere I looked people were clocking the moment on Snapchat, documenting their memories and then letting them disappear into the cyber ether.

For me, the experience was amazing, and if Eden maintains that level of excellence for the rest of the season, I'll undoubtedly be a regular within its walls.
