Pyramid is a party for the music lovers

A night of high-energy for the underground crowd at Amnesia.

Sunday night on the White Isle means only one thing for music lovers: it's time for Pyramid. Throughout 2024, Amnesia's in-house party has been back to provide us a much needed dose of high-quality underground music, each and every week.

Last week, the line-up was exceptional. Techno legend Nina Kraviz, Bulgarian electric wizard KiNKRaxon, François X and the mighty Maceo Plex all shared the same bill.

The Miami DJ/producer was finally back ob Ibiza and a three hour set lay in store. We couldn't miss it.

A night for underground music lovers

After entering the club around 02:00, we immediately made our way to the Terrace, breaking in just in time to witness the end of Raxon's set. At this stage, the dancefloor was already packed.

Sexy extraterrestrial gogo dancers were dancing on the cube in the middle of the crowd, their make up green and yellow help to define the otherworldly atmosphere of the party. Amnesia on Sundays, is like a spaceship journeying to the multiverse of electronic music.

The moment to board had finally arrived and we readied ourselves to join Maceo Plex on his musical voyage. We couldn’t wait to see this master at work in all the glory of an extended set. We fastened our proverbial seat belts and prepared for lift-off...

Launching into warp speed, Maceo Plex's set was creative, futuristic and unapologetically entertaining.

An artist devoted to his craft, his knowledge of music and how to work the dancefloor was clear for all in attendance.

Crazy techno tunes and dirty groovy house bits, we were hooked in a second, loosing ourself in the ritual dancing of the Sunday nights.

He pushed the accelerator to the floor making us jump, before suddenly hitting the brakes, providing us wonderful break-beat sounds. Powerful bass and clever indy melodies drifted us towards the event horizon.

Towards the end of the set, something beautiful began unfolding before our eyes. Both Raxon and KiNK joined Maceo in the booth. An impromptu triple back-to-back commenced, with KiNK contributing his live performance!

What an unexpected experience this was - some of the best music we have listened this year. Just as quickly as it had started, the three-way drew to a close.

Then it was time for KiNK to display his masterful solo performance. The maverick musician looked like a mad scientist in his laboratory full of machines, producing sounds that were energetic, synthetic and and coated in Acid.

This shook us to our core, but we decided move to the room next door to check-out what was happening there.

In the Main Room, Patrick Mason was playing his energetic brand of Techno. This was a very accessible style that even inexperienced ravers could appreciate: bangers with melodic interludes.

The crowd seemed to enjoy every moment. Nobody remained still.

To our great surprise though, no one could match the incredible energy of Mason himself. He started to jump, dance and climb on the console like a man possessed. We had never witnessed something like this. He just didn't stop moving.

His kineticism was contagious, spreading to the dancers below and bringing the night to a glorious conclusion. By the end of the night, everybody was sweaty but satisfied.
