Lissy Lü in real life | Lissy gets some rest and relaxation

Misadventures in clubland. September, week one.

Top raver, booth infiltrator and our very own AM to PM girl, Lissy Lübeck is back for summer 2023, sharing her thoughts, experiences and inner musings from Ibiza's clubland. A year older, but a year wiser? Probably not.

If you heard it from anybody else, you'd dismiss it as hyperbole, but Lissy Lü's real life is like that.

Partying as a profession is a hard life... but somebody's got to do it!

Monday 28 August

Monday started as fairly chilled day with lunch at La Guay and working from home, but for the evening a table was booked at the newly reopened Sa Capella - now owned by Mambo Group. Conveniently, the restaurant is just a stone's throw away from Casa del Spotlight. We could have walked there in under ten minutes, but I didn't fancy the stroll in the dark.

Greeted at the car park by a lovely member of staff, you could see the restaurant all lit up in the background with lights and candles. It genuinely looks like something out of a romantic movie set - I was in absolute awe.

Sa Capella might be under new ownership, but it's lost none of its charm

My dream from a young age has always been to renovate an old barn or farmhouse to look the exact way Sa Capella looks.

We managed to get upgraded to a beautiful table right at the back and centre, with a view of the whole restaurant floor. We ordered the fillet steak, as well as all four sides on the menu of roasted peppers, potatoes, vegetables and salad.

Javier, AKA Daddy Mambo, was there doing the pleasantries. We were introduced, along with other industry people. It's already the new hotspot for DJs.

Nic Fanculli came over to our table to tell us he had just been called in by Yann from The Night League to play Hï Ibiza last minute. Some of Eric Prydz's artists couldn't make it, due to the ongoing air traffic control issues in the UK.

We ended the evening on two gorgeous desserts: the chocolate cake and apple tart, which were both mouth-wateringly good. Waiting at home for me was my new iPhone 14, so I binned off any suggestion of hitting the dancefloor to complete the process of switching handsets.

So shiny!

Let's see me start producing content on this bad boy.

Tuesday 29 August

What a day! Tuesday was action-packed and saw the Ibiza Spotlight clubbing team hit both El Silencio and Las Dos Lunas for a day to night escapade.

The last time I was at El Silencio was for the Paradise closing after party last October. I have nothing but epic memories from that day, so I was keen to go back to try out the venue in a more chilled manner.

After being escorted to two king-size beds at poolside, we were treated to whatever we wanted from the menu. The others gave the restaurant's renowned raw fish dishes a go.

Even for someone who doesn't eat fish as a rule, it was so well presented it still looked rather appealing. If it comes from the sea, then it ain't for me.

Panna cotta and fresh smoothies - fish-free

I ordered a tropical smoothie and a cheeky postre - a vanilla panna cotta with strawberries. It was delightful. The playlist around the pool echoed serene wind chimes and earthy sounds that sent me into a deep afternoon siesta.

The next thing I knew, I woke with a start and it was time to leave to get ready for the evening.

Rescuing a damsel in distress - just call us the fourth emergency service

En route to Las Dos Lunas, I got a call from Charlotte to say that she had broken down in the middle of nowhere and that she was in urgent need of rescue. Luckily, Stevie had a jerry can in his boot so we detoured to a petrol station, filled it up tubs and drove to save her. She was very grateful. We got her vintage whip back on the road pronto.

At Las Dos Lunas, we were greeted on the door by a lady in full regalia, which got us all excited!

We didn't waste any time and dove straight into the fancy dress closet to pick our first outfits. I decided to live out every girls dream of being a bride, with Charlotte offering to take my hand in marriage as my handsome groom.

Throughout the course of the evening, we meandered in and out of the Narnia style wardrobe and lived out our wildest costume fantasies. It was very entertaining and made great content.

At the end of the evening, a prize was awarded to the best dressed. Although we were overlooked for first place, the wig-stuffed boxer shorts worn by the winner was very comical. I think we deserve full marks for participation.

If you're looking for something different to do, keep your eyes peeled for SLUIZ's next Ibizoo dress-up dinner event.

Wednesday 30 August

Today was not your average day at the office.

Shortly after finishing up our weekly team content meeting, theHUB was transformed into, well, Paradise! Branded clothing and themed decor were hung, as the communal work space was turned into a dancefloor for the party's merch drop.

I think I can speak on behalf of the whole Ibiza Spotlight clubbing team when I use the term "girl crush" when describing mystery guest DJ, Chelina Manuhutu. She kicked-off the event with one of my favourite tracks by Rossi. called Honey, I'm…

I was in awe of her charisma, style and sophisticated vibes. I hope I look like that when I'm behind the decks!

Katie Knight and Rossi. himself were filming a cocktail competition behind the bar. This was fun to watch and I got speaking with some of Rossi.'s team who were all lovely.

Unfortunately, we headed home just before Mason Collective jumped on the decks. However, I knew I'd get the real deal at Amnesia later.

Steve kindly dropped me at Amnesia’s door where I rendezvoused with Charlotte at midnight on the nose. We went straight to The Music Box to catch the Mason boys. Rammed from early on, they absolutely shelled it and I got to catch up with them afterwards, as well as some other pals Mason Maynard and Ramoss. I also bumped into MK backstage.

One of my highlights of the night is hearing Steffi and Virginia's Yours. The track has a permanent place on my USB and will be coming out in any future sets I play, regardless of where.

After consuming a lot of tequila (it's my worst), 06:00 rolled around on The Terrace but the party was still in full swing.

With Rossi. talking of a potential afters, a lot of people started leaning on me to hold it at Casa del Spotlight. I didn't buckle to peer pressure, but knowing my walls might eventually cave I decided now was the right opportunity to grab a cab home solo.

Even though the party was still going at 06:30, to my surprise, I walked out the side exit to see not ONE SINGLE PERSON in the taxi queue? I thought I was tripping out.

Another great Wednesday night at Amnesia in the book.

Friday 1 September

This weekend, I allowed myself a reprieve from club-orientated shenanigans and took-off to the mainland to catch up with my family. More importantly, I got to see my nephew for the first time in nearly two months.

Though a last minute (and expensive) trip, it was worth it to spend a weekend with my favourite little nephew on his holiday before he starts year two at school. Though the perfect chilled getaway from the island after a busy August, the weather did not want to play ball.

If you like 60 mph gusts, thunder and heavy rain on your holiday, then it would've been your ideal trip...

A very excited Ryley was waiting for me to arrive, eager to have someone to play with in the pool. Luckily, we managed to get a few hours of intermittent sunshine before the storm clouds rolled over. We splashed around the pool and played games.

In the evening, we headed to an acclaimed new Italian restaurant Eduardo's, owned by former The Only Way Is Essex star Elliott Wright. Having tried and tested his Marbella restaurant a few years ago, we were curious to see what this branch had in store.

After a lovely meal, the cervezas evidently went to Rich's head. He wanted to head back to the bars near the apartment for some karaoke. Sober Rich and drunk Rich are a Jekyll and Hyde package. This would have been hilarious, but Kristy vetoed him. Probably for the best.

Sunday 3 September

Well rested and fed, I woke up with a slight FOMO about what my fellow clubbers had got up to with their weekends in my absence. Though the down time had worked wonders, the call of the dancefloor was starting to beckon.

After three straight nights of clubbing you want your bed. After three nights in, you yearn for the club. It's a neverending see-saw.

Bling! Bling!

By far the gloomiest day of the weekend, I dragged my sister shopping to pass the time. I treated myself to a brand new gold watch. I was meant to wait until my birthday, however I couldn't resist. It's my new baby. Naughty Lissy!

With the weather getting progressively worse throughout the day and the gales picking up, I kept checking my flight app to check for any delays. It insisted it was on time, yet I was getting more and more anxious about flying because of the sheer force of Mother Nature.

After a farewell, I was dropped at Alicante airport and, inevitably, the plane was delayed. I had plans to meet Lucy and Charlotte at Playa Soleil for The Martinez Brothers' takeover of Palmarama. However, demand outstripped supply and they didn't arrive early enough to get in.

I guess I'll have to wait one more night to get my club fix.
