Ibiza Around the (Whole) Island Walk

Tomorrow ten people set off to walk the entire coastline of Ibiza, some 220km! Follow their progress online or step out and join them for part of it!

This Wednesday, 16th October, Toby Clarke will be setting off with a group of nine intrepid and energetic people as he facilitates his first guided Round the Island Walk.

Some readers may remember Toby's well-publicised walk around the coastline of Ibiza a few years ago, and it was this life-changing event that led him to naturally want to share the experience of being fully immersed in Ibiza's natural beauty with others.

Participants will be truly taken "back to basics" for this mammoth eleven day expedition, as they will be sleeping outdoors and carrying everything themselves from their camping equipment to their food. As well as Ibiza residents, people are also flying in for the walk from London and Germany, and ages range from 30 to 65. Toby expects this to be a remarkable bonding experience with participants pushing themselves to the limits, whilst discovering little-known paths and beaches, clambering the rocky terrain and drinking in the breath-taking natural beauty of Ibiza.

Of course, Ibiza has its reputation of being a hedonistic party island, but Toby intends to show that there is certainly more to the island than that. He explains that Ibiza has an energy entirely different to that of the other Balearics or, indeed, the mainland, and it is interesting to note that there are no animals indigenous to Ibiza that will harm a human being here. The perfect terrain, therefore, for a walking and camping holiday!

Podcasts will be released every two to three days depending on 3G connection, and there will be a live, interactive map on walkingibiza.com website so that everyone can keep a track of progress and see whereabouts the walkers are at any given time.

Toby extends a warm welcome to anyone who wants to go along to join in and cheer the participants of the island walk along, so if you are on Ibiza between 16th and 27th October, do go along to show your support...your encouragement will be greatly appreciated!

Editors Note: We have just been advised that Billy Orafferrty, a much loved island resident, along with buddy Joe Buckle will also be part of the team setting off and are looking to raise money for the Cieran Kelso fund – an eight year old boy who in 2006 became a double amputee, having both legs removed and all fingers except one, after contracting meningitis. Any support of the Cieran Kelso fund would be gratefully received – for more information on this little lad and his love of life, please see CieranKelso.co.uk
