Christmas comes a little earlier every year in Ibiza. Only last year, history, and headlines, were made when a shop on the Vara de Rey was festively decorated in the first week of DECEMBER! Contrast this with 3 years ago when San Antonio put its Christmas lights up on the 22nd of the month! This year the Balearic Government, along with various business organisations, banks and the environmentalists, GOB, has come up with a competition to provide the best alternative street illumination for Christmas. All materials have to be recyclable and should have low energy usage, and the prize for the best project is €2500!
