Gay Ibiza - when to ´visit

May is when the season officially starts... July and August is the clubbers idea of heaven ...October many bars and restaurants start to shut their doors.. sea temperatures are still very nice

May is when the season officially starts but it does take Ibiza a few weeks to really wake up. Some restaurants, bars and especially the clubs don’t open until the end of May/beginning of June.

If you love your space and things nice and quiet then May is perfect. The weather can be unpredictable and when it rains it can still feel bloomin’ freezing. Just make sure you pack a jumper or a nice jacket for the cooler evenings. The sea temperatures are also very ‘fresh’ but will feel refreshing if you do decide to take a dip in the hot sun. The island is normally occupied by older couples and a few young groups who have decided on a budget break in the sun.

June. This is where Ibiza really takes it up a notch, the island is properly in full swing and raring to go. All the bars, clubs and excursions are normally up and running by now. The weather is more settled than May but can still throw a few surprises your way so be warned. Youth including Stag and Hen do’s invade San Antonio whilst elsewhere couples rule the roost. The sea temperatures rise nicely and it isn’t as nippy as May time.

July and August. This is the clubbers idea of heaven as every club night is open and buzzing with people. San Antonio still has its youth but is less Chaotic than June as the age demographic widens for these few months. By now the weather can be VERY hot, just don’t rule out a storm or two. Even if you do catch the rain it should still feel warm so forget about bringing your duffle coats. The nights start to draw in again but the warmth makes the darker nights seem just as sweet.

September. Copy and paste June, as the youth and couples arrive back with a few Stag and Hen do’s mixed in for good measure. The sea temperatures are lovely at this stage, makes for a lovely dip. The island turns a beautiful shade of green as the nightly showers return. Most bars and restaurants are still open but the big clubs shut early/mid September, with the closing parties definitely something to look into.

October. Imagine May but with the opposite time line and you have October, many bars and restaurants start to shut their doors as the season starts to wind back down. The sea temperatures are still very nice at this stage and the fresher evenings return for those wanting them.
