San José is known for organising a wide programme of activities to celebrate its patron saint day on 19 March (coinciding with Father's Day in Spain). In the weeks before and after, you can enjoy sports activities, cinema, theatre, walks, games for children, gastronomy, music, and much more.
Among the highlighted events, we recommend:
Saturday 14 March: From 13:00, a new competition of 'Frita de polp' contest (Ibizan recipe with fried octopus) in the streets of the town. Full-day party and concerts: Bluesmàfia (electroacoustic), Groovy Brothers, Los del Varadero, DJ Trapella and Dalton Bang
Sunday 15 March:
- 09:00 Sant Josep Express (orienteering race)
- 10:00, Nordic walk, departure from Cala Bassa beach to the beaches of Cala Conta.
Wednesday 19 March: San José's big day.
- 11:00, solemn mass, traditional dances
- 13:00 giant games for children, family entertainment
- 13.30, Vermut musical. Live music in different venues in San José - Es Galliner (Acoustic Springsteen), Can Bernat Vinya (3 wise monkeys), Can Riku (Swingin Tonic), Pizzico di pepe (Moses left the chat), Caprice (Tabanco Flamenco), La Espiga i 60º Gastrobar (Cover Garden Music)
- 19:00: Concert Ànima Llatina, performed by the Sant Josep Municipal Band. In the Church Square.
Saturday 21 March at 20:00: Folk dance performed by Grup Folklòric Sant Josep, followed by concerts from Arredefolk, Xanguito and DJ Padjesa.
Saturday 28 March from 16:00 Sant Pepe Rock: a lively celebration, featuring live music, DJs, and local artists for a full day
