Leaving behind the Voodoo Nights theme, this year the team have gone extraterrestrial on us with ‘Subliminal Invasion'. With the huge success of the Voodoo Nights set last year, I was worried that he would not be able to top it, perhaps even pulling a David Guetta on us and using his old songs. Well, any doubts I had were quickly erased when he blared out his new track ‘Stronger' (Eddie Thoneick and Shawnee Taylor) which is to be released on June 21st. The night was made extra special when we were graced with a live performance by the hugely talented Shawnee Taylor.
Weeks before the opening the Subliminal team had claimed that Ibiza was gone to be ‘invaded' by their night and that we would feel like we had been transported to another world. They weren't wrong; Pacha had been transformed into a space age heaven. The club was littered with florescent glow bracelets and the dancers had been kitted out in black leather corsets and trousers.
Erick has been returning to Pacha every summer for many many years and so it was no surprise to see old faces in the crowd. There definitely is an Erick Morillo following and they are very loyal to his nights, always with the same VIP tables and coming week after week. His music is always uplifting and never fails to get the crowd on a high; you can't help but leave Pacha in an incredible mood. His night is not one to be missed.
With guest DJ's lined up such as Basement Jaxx and Felix da Housecat, Erick Morillo is set to have another smashing season. Remember to check the line-up regularly for special live performances. 2010 saw the likes of Kelis and P. Diddy grace the stage for Erick's night and I am sure that they will not disappoint us this year.
