About Peggy Gou presents Midnight Lobster Club

After shutting down [UNVRS]’s Closing Party in true headliner fashion, Peggy Gou is back, this time casting her net on a one-off venue takeover.

Midnight Lobster Club is the South Korean DJ, producer and style icon’s creative DNA in physical form. A community, an aesthetic, a philosophy that binds influences of Berlin, Detroit, London and Seoul through one shared frequency, and all under one roof.

Slick lighting design, pristine selections and an air of coolness that only Peggy Gou can manifest, promise to dominate every inch of the hyper-club under her custom party banner.

When?

23:30 to close on Friday 12 June

Where?

[UNVRS]
Urbanización San Rafael, San Rafael, 07816 Open in Google maps

The village of San Rafael is equidistant between Ibiza Town and San Antonio - a charming midpoint surrounded by rolling countryside and boasting unobstructed views of Dalt Vila's historic hilltop fortress in the distance.

Despite its laid-back charm, San Rafael has long held a storied place in Ibiza’s clubbing lore. Once home to the legendary 10,000 capacity Privilege, and before that, the world famous KU, the same coordinates now mark the spot of [UNVRS].

Set back from the motorway that connects Ibiza’s east and west coasts, [UNVRS] is easily accessible by car, private hire or public transport. Please respect local residents on ingress and egress by keeping noise to a minimum, avoiding loitering and disposing of litter responsibly.

Who?

[UNVRS]

Peggy Gou

- architect of catchy tracks like It Makes You Forget (Itgehane) and (It Goes Like) Nanana
- first Korean female DJ to play Berlin's notorious Berghain nightclub
- her wardrobe is the envy of fashionistas worldwide

South Korean DJ, producer and clothing designer Peggy Gou rose from Berlin's underground electronic scene to global prominence. In 2018 she founded Gudu Records, later releasing her debut album I Hear You on XL Recordings.

Beyond music, she is widely regarded as a style icon. Having launched her own fashion house, Kirin, Gou also worked as a correspondent for Harper's Bazaar Korea.

Peggy Gou’s love for lobsters includes owning one of the rare Louis Vuitton lobster bags designed by Pharrell Williams, even naming one of her tracks Lobster Telephone after Salvador Dalí's iconic 1936 surrealist sculpture. It all makes more sense once you've danced to it.

[UNVRS]

As one of electronic music's most instinctive tastemakers and founder of Gudu Records, Gou knows exactly who can match her vibe on the night. Assigning Dutchman and Up The Stuss founder Chris Stussy, and rising Parisian Salomé Le Chat to the decks, is a serious power play.

With three billed DJs and six and a half hours to play with, are you thinking what I'm thinking? Extended sets? Yes, please.

What?

Music genre: House

Hazy, transcending House and purist rave energy are the hallmarks of our hostess. Not to mention, peak-time unreleased ID drops to send the crowd loco.

It wouldn't be out of character for Peggy Gou to throw down a serious sound-of-the-summer contender to truly break in the season, now would it?

Why?

Five good reasons to go:

  • Peggy Gou is one of the few artists who genuinely bridges underground credibility and mainstream pull, so expect a soundtrack with real range
  • with It Makes You Forget (Itgehane), Starry Night & (It Goes Like) Nanana in her hit catalogue, the girl’s USB is packed with “gou-ds
  • two of the current hottest names in the global scene, Chris Stussy and Salomé Le Chat, are a mighty coup as support acts
  • [UNVRS]'s technical infrastructure means what happens here simply cannot happen anywhere else
  • if you were lucky enough to experience Peggy Gou’s at [UNVRS] last October, you need no convincing for round two
