On Sunday 16 July is the Fiesta of Saint Carmen, the Patron Saint of fishing communities and mariners. On the island, she is celebrated in Ibiza Town, San Antonio, Santa Eulalia, Es Cubells and Portinatx. The day’s events include a mass in the local church, boat processions – look out for the tiny fishing craft known locally as llaüts - and music.
On this big day, dozens of adorned boats will depart on a maritime procession where prayers and flowers will be offered to Saint Carmen for the safety of all who sail on or earn their living from the sea. Visitors can also join the procession by boarding one of the regular tourist boats.
The small village of Es Cubells and the northern town of Portinatx celebrate their Patron Saint festivities on these dates, organising various activities for all ages and likes. More information about the entire programme soon.
