There's been some concern in Ibiza recently about the progress of converting the town's historic castle into a luxury state run hotel – a Parador – as not a lot had been happening over the recent holiday period and it was suspected that a lack of funds was responsible.

However, the Secretary of State for Tourism, Isabel Borrego, assured Ibiza's top politicians at Madrid's Fitur tourist industry shindig that the completion of the Parador is a 'priority.'

The project has already been delayed by the finding of important archaeological ruins which necessitated a change in the plans of the Parador to preserve and display them.

It is still envisaged that the opening date for the prestigious hotel will be in 2013.
