Captain Courageous

The Captain of the cruise ship Vistamar, which crashed into a warning beacon and almost sank last week, must be wishing he hadn't angered the local press.

The Captain of the cruise ship Vistamar, which crashed into a warning beacon and almost sank last week, must be wishing he hadn't angered the local press.

Obviously upset, the Captain refused to give his name and advised the press to say that 10 people had been killed to sell more papers. Since then the papers have reported that the Captain had previously crashed another boat in the Antarctic, many of the crew did not have proper contracts, nobody had said thank you to the fire brigade for the pumping operations, and that there was now a ton and a half of oil polluting the water round the harbour.

The ship has now been towed to Cartagena for repairs, but we leave the last word to a crewman who said, 'He's a great captain, a good man, but he made a mistake.'
