Last week saw the Andalucian community celebrating one of its local festivals in Ibiza's big conference hall. The Andalucians are famous for bringing Flamenco, involving a man in tight trousers stamping about with a few gypsy girls to an incomprehensible 'musical' accompaniment, into an unenlightened world. Sure enough there was Flamenco aplenty to entertain the 30,000 visitors, as well as the lesser-known Rumbas and Sevillanas, and even a football competition - just how difficult is football when your trousers are 3 sizes too small? For those interested in eating there was a grand dinner featuring the famous Jaen speciality 'Carne Mechada' instead of the usual Paella. The organisers proclaimed the Fiesta a great success as did we judging by the lack of parking spaces for miles around the conference hall when we arrived!
