San Juan is the least densely populated of the five Boroughs. There are no major towns, although the resorts Portinatx and Puerto de San Miguel enjoy a thriving summer tourist industry.

Quaint little villages such as San Juan itself, San Miguel and San Lorenzo give the region a less modern feel, and it is popular with artists and 'hippies' alike.
