Cocoon Ibiza 2010, First Rumours

First out of the traps as usual, Cocoon Ibiza have already announced their theme for 2010 and well, we just had to bite on the possibilities, didn't we!?

The theme for 2010 is "The Year We Make Contact", which has sparked a great debate in our forums over the meaning of this and whether that is in fact some poorly veiled reference to Richie Hawtin's M-nus showcases, which go under the name of 'Contakt'.

Well, we just had to find out, so I went straight to the horses' mouth, well as good as, and spoke to Katrin Schlotfeldt, Richie's partner in running the Clonk Booking Agency. Her response couldn't have been any more clear: "We are not having a weekly residency for Rich at Cocoon."

So as we already know there will be one rather significant absentee from the Cocoon terrace for 2010, all to be revealed in a few days, but who else will be pulling the strings alongside Sven. Joris Voorn, who was one of the star's of Ibiza's 2009 season, is apparently tied down to an exclusive somewhere else, no prizes for guessing where.

Loco Dice - whose fortunes could be set for a real challenge due to an alleged break down in relations with long time production partner, Martin Buttrich - is the closest thing that Papa Sven's empire has to a sure thing. As for Mr. Villalobos, has his excess become too excessive? Don't be surprised if the terrace sees less of its main protagonist from the last few years.

Who's left then? Well the likes of Cassy, Radio Slave, Dubfire, Marco Carola and Tobi Neumann will all be back but the planned return of Circo Loco at DC10 may mean tough competition for artists like Raresh amongst others.

Other supporting DJs from the last few years, such as Nick Curly and his Mannheim friends, as well as Reboot, already have bigger plans, although that might not necessarily exclude them from the Cocoon proceedings altogether.

Hmmmm, don't ya just love a good bit of rumour grindage!!

Cocoon Ibiza 2010 is every Monday opening 14th June and closing 27th September.
