Amnesia Closing 2010 - Best Party of the Year??

Easily the most talked about single party on the Spotlight forums of the last couple of years, El Cierre is back!!!

Why the hype about Amnesia Closing? It'd kind of be like trying to describe the atmosphere inside a throbbing football ground or concert venue, each one has their own characteristics and traits, similarly with Amnesia Closing.....it has a totally unique vibe amongst other clubbing experiences.

Traditionally it was always a crazy affair - that's when crazy really actually meant something to - that would go on forever and the open air terrace would resemble a scene from Saving Private Ryan. Over the past few years, the layered caked hype about the bash has been for a number of reasons.

Firstly, guests in the last couple of years have included Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin, Luciano and Marco Carola, but perhaps most importantly - with it being officially against the rules for parties to take place between 7am and 4:30pm during the regular season - the fact that this party really gets going about 8am and continues to 5pm gives it an almost unique timetable compared to anything else...........and of course an atmosphere to match it.

This year, like last, Matinee rule the Saturday night roost, but come 8/9am on Sunday morning, Mar-T is sure to kicking off the best part of the event, followed by Dice, Richie and Marco. Last year, Luciano played from about 10-12 with Richie Hawtin and Marco Carola playing back2back for about 5 hours, but it's hard to imagine Dice won't team up with current B2B buddy Carola for at least some of it.

Perhaps even a 3 way session!! Whatever, here's a taste of last year's session from dancetrippin.tv and it's ready, get set for the party of the summer.

yeah, i mean it's only prolly the most iconic and legendary techno track ever made. it was an unbelievable moment.

look at the youtube comment, it says it all actually

"the first time i heard this song, my microwave cooked a bowl of shrimp scampi by itself and when it was done, instead of beeping, it played the theme from fresh prince of bel air"

:lol::lol:

Being squashed in like sardines in the midday heat while the pretentious Richie Hawtin arses about with tractor and plays tears for fears doesnt sound like the best clubbing experience in the world to me.
Just to say you were there.
Everybody has different ideas about what constitutes a good party. Just like everyone has different tastes in music.

I'm not a big fan of Hawtin either but I would have loved to have been there for Loco Dice.

I had no issues with the music or night, just the quantity of people. going travelling next year so think i may be having a year off ibiza :( but i still would be tempted to go back to amnesia again, though next time at 10am instead and just ignore that fact that its open in the night

Not at all how i felt about the night (as i was there a lot earlier) but still a good review Grego :)

What i would say is that i think there is a big difference in opinion between the people who could go on to the balcony and those that couldn't. When you have a decent area to chill out on and look down at a massive crowd, it is much easier to relax. We werre trying to stand at the side of the dance floor waiting for the crushing to ease off and it was horrible (and boring)...had a been on the balcony, i would have been much more relaxed and happier to just have a drink and watch the party...before joining in later.

i would have stayed to the end if if i was able to go into the main room to chill out... tried going in at around 2pm and found the doors to be closed!! sweat was dripping of me and even going upstairs to relax wouldn't get you out of the intense heat... 30 euro for 2 bottles of water doesn't help the situation either!! but, i will be back next year though... one idea for the owners to take note of if they read this would be to just leave the main room open ( even if there's no dj's playing ) as it would be a great area to get out of the dangerously high temperatures in the terrace if they insist in having the place overcrowded.... just a thought.. :)

we arrived at 6am and left at 4pm... first time at the closing party and it was incredible!!! very, very squashed though and loads of people just shoving past you in the terrace although i guess there is no choice in a crowd that size... will definitely be back next year!!!
