Ibiza Autoemocion

It's not every island that has one of the world's top selling cars named after it

It's not every island that has one of the world's top selling cars named after it is it?

Here in Ibiza we're proud that the island's name is emblazoned on the back of Seat's cars all over the world – in fact 5000 journalists and others connected with the automobile industry from over 40 countries have just been in Santa Eulalia for the launch of the new Ibiza model.

The director general of Seat, Pedro Catena, was there waxing lyrical to the world's press about increased length, width, the Electronic Stability Program, better petrol consumption and the car's near 25 year history.

The mayor of Santa Eulalia was also there, waxing lyrical about the venue for the launch, the town's new congress centre. But he missed making the most of a marketing opportunity by continually referring to the island as EIVISSA, its Catalan name used by hardly anybody in the big, wide world outside.
