The island's important cruise ship market will complete the 2004 season

The island's important cruise ship market will complete the 2004 season with a 10% reduction in the number of berthings than last year, down from 117 to 101.

However the drop in the number of boats, whilst reflecting the general recession in the cruising business, is not all doom and gloom as the ships which now visit Ibiza are much bigger than in years gone by and carry more passengers.

The authorities reckon that 75,000 passengers will have visited Ibiza by the end of the season and with each one spending on average €74 during their stay, it's a lot of money for the island, over €5.5 million in fact. So carry on cruising!
