The little plane that tows the advertising banner for Privilege Discotheque crashed into the sea near Cala Tarida this week. The aircraft was on its usual flight round the island's beaches when the motor cut out in mid-air and the pilot had to ditch the plane in the water between Cala Tarida and Cala Moli where it soon sank to a depth of 40 metres.
The pilot, Javier Yern, who was unharmed and rescued by a boat from the water-ski school, was coincidentally involved in another incident last December, when the plane he was flying had to make an emergency landing in a field in San Rafael.
