The 120 volunteers of the civil defence organisation spread across the boroughs of the island have just taken delivery of 6 brand new all terrain vehicles to help them in emergency situations.
The specially adapted Nissan Patrol Pickups are equipped for almost any emergency with a pump, a winch, a vacuum pump, an electricity generator, and so on. Provided by the Balearic Government, the vehicles will be first on the scene at, for example, a forest fire.
This is a step forward for the island to have this type of immediate response vehicle to tackle problems as soon as possible, rather than having to wait for emergency services from the mainland.
