Ibiza Bands Together to stop ‘Silent Killer’

Raising awareness for Hepatitis.

So, what is it all about? Well, this summer as part of a week long series of events Ibiza has teamed up with the WHA to raise awareness of Hepatitis B and C as well as provide you with some sought after discounts for some of the best night spots.

Ibiza isn't shy of raising awareness for Hepatitis and events such as the Internation Music Summit, We Love at Space and Manumission have all taken part over the years.

Although Ibiza is often prercieved as just a party Island, it infact is bursting at the seems with young open minded people who have the power to raise awareness of Hepatitis and change peoples perceptions of the illness.

Important dates:

24th July – Mark and Sarah Broadbent of We Love at Space raised money via their guestlist.

27th July – Joining forces with Guilty Pleasures on the first night of their residency at Aura, WHA is auctioning a selection of Boy George's 80's Icon photography series.

28th July – This is when the forth annual World Hepatitis Day takes place.

29th July – WHA will be at Café Mambo alongside world renowned DJs and there will be a lucky dip where prizes such as gig and festival tickets can be won.

Did You Know?

  • Approximately 500 million people worldwide are infected with hepatitis B or C - This is over 10 times the number infected with HIV/AIDS
  • Hepatitis B and C kill one million people a year
  • Less than one third (32%) of governments report funding action to reduce the stigmatisation of, and discrimination against, people living with hepatitis B or C3
  • 81% of low income country governments have not funded any awareness work and 85% have not acted to reduce stigma3
  • One in three people on the planet has been exposed to either or both viruses
  • 1 in 12 of the global population is chronically infected with hepatitis B or C
