Season preview | Paradise on Earth

What to expect on Wednesdays at Amnesia.

Better late than never... This year Jamie Jones makes Amnesia the new promised land for his iconic party Paradise.

Delayed by two years through reasons we're already familiar with, the postponement actually made this ambitious move coincide with something super special. 2022 is the 10th anniversary of Jones' label, Hot Creations.

Maybe everything happens for a reason?

As one of Ibiza's most in demand parties, Paradise has taken its renowned Wednesday night slot at its new home, commencing 22 June. Let's delve a little further into its debut summer at Amnesia.

Jamie Jones closing the terrace every week

Earlier in May, we were lucky enough to catch Jamie Jones' closing set at Amnesia's 18-hour Opening Party, which gave us a compelling preview into what he's got in store for us this summer. Let's just say, here's to more unbeatable memories.

You'd think that 14 hours into a party at  08:00, people might be winding down? Not the case. As Jones commenced his set, the party was truly at its peak time. It really does show the power he has on the island and the lengths his fanbase will go to to catch the master.

The unbuttoned pink Hawaiian shirt is already iconic.

Jamie Jones is set to play all but one week (31 August) - a busy summer ahead for JJ and plenty of opportunity to catch him on this legendary dancefloor.

Hot Creations camp | 10 years of the label

Paradise is built around the distinct sound and artists of Hot Creations. Founded in 2012 by Jamie Jones and fellow DJ Lee Foss, Hot Creations celebrates a ten year anniversary this year. In that time, the label has become a much celebrated platform in the electronic music scene, producing a pool of new talent, sub-labels HOTTRAX and Emerald City and clothing lines.

Names you'll know who have released music on the label, include Deetron, Rich NxT, Ninetoes, Blackchild, Bontan, Ben Stirling, Mason Maynard and many more.

Jamie almost exclusively dips into this pool of talent when curating his line-ups.

Two huge examples are longstanding Paradise residents, Richy Ahmed and wAFF. Involved since the very start, the pair are back to support their friend and mentor. Both secure multiple dates over the course of the residency.

Patrick Topping, another name closely associated with Paradise for many years, plays one date (14 September).

Incidentally, he's about to venture into a residency of his own at DC10 - an ironic exchange of homes between himself and Jones. Nonetheless, that single date represents a great opportunity to see another label favourite in action at Amnesia.

New for this summer, Manda Moor embarks on her own Paradise journey, joining the team of resident DJs.

Then there are those appearances which are simply a longtime coming.

After returning from exile, co-founder of Hot Creations Lee Foss plays his first ever Paradise Ibiza date in 10 years. Another case of better late than never, in our book.

Paradise on earth: how the party might look

Not that we needed another reason to attend this A-Class prized-party, but the Paradise team have got more tricks up its sleeve to ooze us back in. As much as it is about the music, those carefully curated production elements do really enhance our experience.

Taking artistic control of the whole club, the vision for 2022 includes abstract shapes and towering statues. Esteemed avant garde designer Kate Tabor has been appointed to dress the animation team for each show.

After working on designs for the Chemical Brothers last last live show, Kate was headhunted by Hot Creations' creative director Kim Nolan and Dionne Estabrook at FM Artists.

She says of the pieces, "the Age of Love theme is carried through the costumes in the shapes we have created and the colours we have chosen for each of the costumes."

Aside from Kate's sartorial touch, there will be other noticeable differences to Amnesia.

The Main Room will be rechristened The Music Box and it will predominantly feature the style of House music that has come to be known as "Deep-Tech". Think the likes of East End Dubs, Chris Stussy, PAWSA and the FUSE camp.

And when things all get too much on the dancefloor, then there's also a mysterious new chill-out area known as Pharaohs Garden. Intriguing. The Paradise Airstream is also back.

On top of all this, other names playing at Paradise are Joseph Capriati, The Blessed Madonna, Ida Engberg, Enzo Siragusa, Archie Hamilton, Skream, Len Faki, Loco Dice, Hot Since 82, Nicole Moudaber and many more. Star studded or what?

Since the early days at DC10, Paradise has provided an unmatchable haven for House and Techno. While the location may be new, that looks set to continue this summer on Wednesdays at Amnesia.
