Ibiza DJ focus | Alice Clark

Profiling an island personality.

Each week, we'll be featuring an island-based DJ who is making waves on Ibiza and further afield. From keen newcomers to established DJs, we will be bringing you the very best of the island's talent from places you might not have thought to look.

Introducing... Alice Clark

Exploration, persistence and a fondness of dubbier, groove-driven variants of house music.

Alice Clark's love of electronic music was nurtured on the dance floor during her time at university. As that passion grew knowing no boundaries, it became clear it would ultimately turn into a profession.

A highly motivated go-getter, Alice has always followed her dreams with vigour. When she gets an idea in her head, her focus is locked. It's that same uncompromising tunnel-vision that saw her uproot from her home in Kent and relocate to Ibiza at just 18 years old.

Ten years later, the fact that she is still here underlines her commitment to make this career path work. Hailed by DJ Mag as "one to watch", she counts Sankeys Ibiza as a former place of residence in addition to playing parties across the island.

Alice Clark is hopelessly devoted to her craft. After years of locking herself away and mastering the trade, DJing has become a labour of love for her. Gravitating towards the deeper edges of minimal and micro-house genres, she has found a zone she is comfortable operating within.

All of a sudden, it seems as though she has found her stride.

Determined to make her presence felt within the minimal scene, Alice has already graced the likes of Cyclic Records, We R House, Oblack and HedzUp. Perhaps her biggest release to date has been her Rocket EP on Decay, whiched peaked at number one on Traxsource's minimal chart.

Few label's have a reputation the size of Get Physical. Alice's collab with Feh.t - called Montblanc - featured on the label's mixed Ibiza 2018 V/A.

Throughout summer 2019, Alice has bunkered down and spent every waking moment in the studio. The fruits of those sessions look set to see the light of day in 2020, with a steadfast release schedule incoming.

Additionally, Alice has promised a throng of collaborations with the likes of Lost.Act, Bodj, Mikhu, Alexis Cabrera and Bernando. Another exciting development in the pipeline, is that of her debut outing on wax. The vinyl EP forthcoming on Floorpiece is tentatively poised for early 2020.

Though she might be based on Ibiza, Alice has ambitions to further her international reach.

Tours in the earlier part of 2019 spanned various continents and territories. The first quarter of the year saw her play in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, New York, Washington DC and San Diego, Stateside.

By spring, she had made her way to Central America with a debut performance in Honduras. From there, she wound up playing a four date mini tour of Romania. With the Romanian sound heavily influencing her productions and sets, it was a voyage of discovery and inspiration.

Having been firmly rooted on the White Isle for a decade now, it's progress on home turf she's most keen to pursue. As recently as September, she was invited to play an intimate set at island clubbing Mecca, DC-10. The Paradise air stream can be listened to in its entirely above.

As the island prepares to shutdown and go into hibernation for the cooler months, Alice's attention switches to the country of her birth. Heading back to the UK, you can catch her on digital airwaves playing a guest set for Decay Records on Bloop. London radio on 2 October.

Her time in England is fleeting, as she crosses the Atlantic to return to the United State once again. She plays for the Deep Tech posse at Kava Lounge in San Diego on Saturday 26 October.

The Ibiza season may be almost over for another summer, but come next term we hope to see Alice Clark's name on more of the island's billboards and posters.

We'll be featuring another island personality next week.
