A trip to Cuckoo Land with Sonny Fodera and friends

Fridays at the home of the pool party

You can't go wrong with a good Friday fiesta - where better to find it than Ibiza's "home of the pool party" aka Ibiza Rocks? Lucky for those on the Island, Fridays at the venue mean Cuckoo land. I stopped by this week to take in all the madness, check it out.

The daytime alternative to Do Not Sleep features some of the hottest DJs in the tech-house game. Expect resident Sonny Fodera alongside an impressive array of others.

We headed over last Friday to find the Ibiza Rocks venue transformed into a magical, fairytale-like land. Large flowers and whimsical looking inflatables hung over the dancefloor, locking ravers in a house music filled fantasy land.

With psychedelic decor came psychedelic clothing. Like a love child of elrow and Flower Power, Cuckoo Land attracts a hedonistic crowd. Colour and good vibes took over Ibiza Rocks for another memorable pool party.

When I arrived, Manchester-born trio Mason Collective began their set. Known predominantly for their love of tech-house tunes, the three discoteers didn't disappoint. Playing for an hour and a half, the trio stuck too bass-heavy house. Ibiza vibes all round!

Karen Pollack's You Can't Touch Me was a solid favourite from their set. Creating a carefree atmosphere is what Cuckoo Land is all about. This track did that effortlessly. Well done boys.

Keeping minimal and heavy techno at bay, Mason Collective accommodated a genre often lost in Ibiza. Adding samples of rap and vocals into their mix, it made for a sing-a-long here and there. What's not to love?

YSL by Lil Yatchy (The Martinez Brothers Remix) was my personal favourite - a summer banger without a doubt.

I'll admit, whilst I was sad to see the trio close their set, I was eager to see what Sonny Fodera had in store.

By 17:30 the stage was all his and the crowd literally roared at his opening track. The Moment by Sonny Fodera ft. Lilly Ahlberg is one that promises to be huge this season. Give it a listen below.

Continuing to woo the crowd with some old and new numbers, you could tell Fodera felt at home. Back for his second season with Cuckoo Land, the loveable Aussie showed no signs of slowing down.

Confidently blasting throwbacks like Camelphat's Cola and last years hit, One Kiss by Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa, Fodera surely gave us those summer feels.

And the party didn't stop there. In the running line to close Cuckoo Land third week was Leftwing : Kody. Admittedly, having never seen the pair in action, I was unsure what to expect. However, their opening track I Feel It soon put me straight. Take a listen.

Realistically, the only misfortune was that the night didn't carry on for longer. With ease I could have danced in the venue for hours. Fortunately, Ibiza boasts an almost unending list of parties.

Last year the likes of Gorgon City, Latmun and Max Chapman all took a turn in Cuckoo Land. The line up for this year is just as appetising. Worldwide acts such as Hannah Wants, Disciples and Leftwing : Kody are just a few of the summer's headliners.

Check our party calendar below for tickets and line-ups.
