Santa Eulalia in Winter (Santa Eulària)
|
|
Winter in Santa Eulalia actually brings few changes to the town itself. Of course some of the holiday pubs and bars are shut; the beach is empty; most hotels are closed, and there is much less traffic on the roads. Yet nearly all of the shops and the better restaurants remain open throughout the year, catering to the large resident population (that's us foreigners) and the locals. After all, Santa Eulalia is the richest Borough in the whole of Spain - and that is certainly not due to tourism alone.
Stroll along the main street and stop for a coffee in Cosmi or Royalty, perfect places to sit and watch the passers by. Many shops are open all year, and you can still be guarenteed a first class meal in one of the restaurants which remain open all year, (wihout waiting for a table!).

The broad promenade along the beach is ideal for a walk along to the Marina where you can admire the boats. Alternatively at the far end of town, there is a lovely walk along the riverside (the only river in the Balearics - albeit only a few hundred metres in length!).
The mini train continues its journeys throughout the winter months - an ideal way to see the surrounding countryside. Don't worry if the wind picks up, there are perspex windows and blankets to keep out the chill!
Fiesta Time!
12. February - Patron Saint's day in Santa Eulalia - It is carnival season for the whole of Ibiza, all the island's children dress up in costume and parade through the streets of each town. Of course in Santa Eulalia on their Patron Saint's day, this is a festival Not To Be Missed!
Nighttime
The bars and cafés lining the main street are open until late evening, and Guarana music bar in the Marina is open from 23.00 every day for groovy music and drinks. Although on some days it only starts filling up after 02.00 - well that's Ibiza for you!
