Santa Eulalia in Winter (Santa Eulària)

Winter in Santa Eulalia actually brings few changes to the town itself. Of course some of the holiday pubs and bars are shut; the beach is empty; most hotels are closed, and there is much less traffic on the roads. Yet nearly all of the shops and the better restaurants remain open throughout the year, catering to the large resident population (that's us foreigners) and the locals. After all, Santa Eulalia is the richest Borough in the whole of Spain - and that is certainly not due to tourism alone.

Stroll along the main street and stop for a coffee in Cosmi or Royalty, perfect places to sit and watch the passers by. Many shops are open all year, and you can still be guarenteed a first class meal in one of the restaurants which remain open all year, (without waiting for a table!). Weekend nights can be spent listening to music in Guarana Music Bar.

Suggested places to visit:

Café Royalty bar and restaurant - this is THE place for coffee and cakes and, as it's on the sunny side of the street, it's a lovely warm spot on a winters day. There is also a popular restaurant here too which serves mediterranean cuisine.

Guarana Music Bar - open 'til late, this is the most popular music bar in the resort in winter. Lovely ambient atmosphere and they often have local bands play.

Celler C'an Pere Restaurant - well established with a strong reputation, this restaurant is ideal for lunchtimes, when you can sit outside, or evenings.

The broad promenade along the beach is ideal for a walk along to the Marina where you can admire the boats. Alternatively at the far end of town, there is a lovely walk along the riverside (the only river in the Balearics - albeit only a few hundred metres in length!).

Also take a look at our shopping guide, most shops still open for business in Santa Eulalia so you should find plenty to tempt you.

For those who have hired a car, this time of the year is ideal to get out and about exploring the island. To help you on your way take a look at our 4 'self drive' island routes - do them all or choose the one for the area you're staying in - we're sure they'll introduce to another side of Ibiza. They're printer friendly too - so you can take them with you when you travel.

Fiesta Time!

12. February - Patron Saint's day in Santa Eulalia - It is carnival season for the whole of Ibiza, all the island's children dress up in costume and parade through the streets of each town. Of course in Santa Eulalia on their Patron Saint's day, this is a festival Not To Be Missed!

Nighttime

The bars and cafés lining the main street are open until late evening, and Guarana music bar in the Marina is open from 23.00 every day for groovy music and drinks. Although on some days it only starts filling up after 02.00 - well that's Ibiza for you!
