Interview: Chris Lake

Hannah Davies catches up briefly with Chris Lake to find out what he's been up to.

Spotlight: You are back in Ibiza with 4 dates at cream this year how does it feel to play in Amnesia?

Chris: Simply awesome - if anywhere knows how to party, Ibiza's got to be up there with the greats?! I've been playing the Cream shows out there for a few years now, and it just gets better and better.

What's the Cream crowd like?

Hot, sticky, sweaty and mental, the way us DJs really like it!

Do you have any other plans for Ibiza or special events you're looking forward to this summer?

I'm doing a one off show for Toolroom at Space on the 8th August, so I'm going to head out there and chill out for a few days either side. It'll be a lot of fun as I've not played space for a few years now.

Where have you played recently (country/city) that surprised you in terms of the crowd or atmosphere?

Erm that's a tough one, I go to each country expecting the party to be rocking! I can't say anywhere has shocked me by being really s**t, which is a good thing!

What productions news and plans have you got for this year?

Errr this is kind of awkward, plans are there, but there are certain things which need finalising before I go shooting my mouth off.... I'm learning to behave on that front. Generically though, as always, I can guarantee plenty of tunes!

How do you balance the need to produce and keep DJing?

My beautiful lady keeps me balanced most of the time. I also pretty much gave up getting leathered at gigs, which means the fatigue just isn't the same you know? Plus I'm stupidly driven, sitting around doing nothing doesn't fly to well with me, except on Mondays.

What news can you share with us about Rising Music and Rising Trax?

Well, Nelski has a smashing vocal track out right now called Dancing... beatport beatport beatport! And there's something very special coming from Marco Lys later this summer... be ready for an epic one!
