Dance Music History: Sampling

The acid house magic carpet ride is still very much afloat, but do you know what you ought to know about the history, myths and roots. Our new series....

......with such a wealth of information now out there about the who, how, where and why of dance music's rich and recent history, it'd be criminal if we didn't do our bit to educate. 

Quoting Cicero (that's Cicero the Roman philosopher not the drum 'n' bass MC) "To be ignorant of what occurred before you were born is to always remain a child. For what is the worth of human life, unless it is woven into the life of our ancestors by the records of history?"

A dance music translation of that would be something like......"please have some respect at what went previously, before you decide to change the world with your remix of 'Good Life'".

We're gonna start at the beginning..........back to 1969 in fact and the most important drum beat created. Through 21st century eyes, it's almost impossible to 'unknow' what we do so as to truly appreciate the significance of this, but let's try anyway. The monotone Nate Harrison explains.........
