Wonderland goes crazy for Deadmau5 in Ibiza

Everybody screamed and threw their hands in the air when a Deadmau5 was spotted at Eden on Friday.

It was never going to be easy – and the job is far from over yet – but Pete Tong and his Wonderland party has so far succeeded in bringing quality music and some great parties to San Antonio.

As far as clubbing reputations go, Eden has previously struggled to keep up with the other Ibiza super-clubs, like Space, Amnesia, El Divino, Pacha and Privilege.

Judgement Sunday has been a terrific success but for those looking for a decent house night, the options have been slim. But the exciting news this summer was of Pete Tong moving from Pacha to Eden and we all looked ahead in anticipation.

As expected, Tong has introduced a music policy for Wonderland that can only be admired, avoiding the usual floor-fillers and sticking to some tougher house sets. So far, we´ve been treated to dj´s like James Zabiela, Eric Prydz, Nic Fanciulli and of course, residents Jo Mills, Groove Armada and Tong himself !

However, on Friday 11 July we were at Eden for what we thought was the outstanding night so far this summer for Wonderland, as Tong was joined by Tania Vulcano, Deadmau5 and Mr C.

With a line-up like that, it always threatened to be more of a tech-house evening, but this didn´t stop Eden filling up quickly as clubbers arrived to see what the fuss was about.

For us, the highlight of the night was certainly the rare appearance of Deadmau5 behind the decks. Deadmau5 is arguably one of the hottest names in electronica and only has a couple of dates set for Ibiza (the other one confirmed for Cream on Thursday 21 August).

He didn´t disappoint anyone on Friday as he delivered a flawless set putting together an awesome combo of tech-house, electro and even throwing in some Daft Punk for good measure. And yes ... he really did play his set wearing the famous mouse head !

Tania Vulcano followed with a more minimal-tech set which kept the party going on, but tonight you just felt it was all about Deadmau5. We´ll be keeping a keen eye on his future dates. 

Plus we´ll be making sure to return to Wonderland soon !
