Sweden for the semis? Enthusiastic football fans make rash predictions below.

Ibiza's cosmopolitan nature makes it a unique environment to enjoy the soccer World Cup, or Mundial as the competition is called in Spain.

After Germany itself, the White Isle is perhaps the best place in Europe to enjoy the WC as a sporting contest not an excuse for triumphant flagwaving or xenophobic name-calling. Many different countries have representatives here - English, Germans, Italians and Argentinians in particular reside in large numbers. Also to be found are Ecuadorians, Poles, French, Brazilians, Mexicans, Americans, Australians, Swedes, Paraguayans, Dutch, Swiss, Portuguese and others. Good club nights and other social occasions are like meetings of a United Nations drinking convention (see below).

Sense at Grial - May 17, 2006

Today Spain's impressive 4-0 win over Ukraine put the local population in raptures. As was the case when Barcelona beat Arsenal in the recent final of the Champions League and when Ecuador put two in against the more fancied Poland on Saturday, football fans took to their cars for a spot of horn honking and flagwaving down the main street of Ibiza Town.

Celebration is what Ibiza does best, and tonight's parties - Home of La Troya at Space, Subliminal at Pacha, Sense at Grial and all the others - are likely to benefit from Spaniards revved up by their team's emphatic victory.

We asked a selection of djs, promoters and Ibiza party people their views on the current competition.
