Bora Bora's closing party

The past year for Bora Bora has been both topsy and turvy. At this point in 2004 the internet was ablaze with the news that Ibiza's favourite beach rave bar was quiet. BB face and resident dj Gee Moore poured gasoline on the flames by placing the blame fully on the competition.

"I have asked Fritz [Pangratz, from Space Ibiza] on many occasions how he feels about Bora Bora and other venues like it on the island and that surely it must be a good thing that the more there is in Ibiza the better the attraction to the island for those that come year after year and he agreed. I see now that it was just a front that he and others couldn't keep up any longer."

A spokesman for Ibiza's superclub collective the Asociacion de Discotecas branded the allegations "rubbish".

"We have no interest in seeing legal venues closed down. The people who instruct and carry out the law in Spain are the authorities and not the nightclubs."

In November there was a massive Bora Bora party in London's 2,000 capacity Heaven nightclub guest starring none other than Danny Tenaglia and featuring Gee and other Bora Bora associated djs. It was a success and Gee continued to play in the UK, Asia, the US and elsewhere over the following months.

Northern hemisphere summer 2005 rolls around and the opening party of Bora Bora is announced for May 27. Would the action be the same as before? Would Gee be back?

Yes and yes. The venue commenced operations without a hitch and according to resident dj Will Johnston (below) the police have not made their presence felt in 2005.

"As far as I've seen we generally haven't had big problems. We've tried to keep the volume down, keep control of what's going on and keep it a nice party so that everybody's happy. This was the first year the club was open and at a certain time we stopped the craziness outside and moved in so it wasn't bothering anybody."

Bora Bora was nominated as one of the best bars in Ibiza at the Pacha-sponsored Dj Awards last week.

Their closing party last Wednesday (October 5) was excellent.
