Review: Mobilee at Santos

A slice of Berlin lands in Ibiza and heads straight for the pool...

An explosive Sunday served me as no day of rest. Spotlight's 15th birthday party was celebrated in such an over the top fashion we can guarantee any 15 year old would be extremely jealous. Inflatable water parks, paddle boats, cake, glitter and boogying until the sun came up are just a few of the many highlights. Monday morning (actually more like Monday afternoon) left me sore in places I didn't know were possible. Sunshine serves as the best rejuvenation, making my visit yesterday to Mobilee Records pool party at Santos Hotel the perfect cure.

Anja Schneider, founder of German based music label (Mobilee Records), brings the whole gang to the white isle this season for their first residency at Santos Hotel. After a hugely successful string of rooftop parties in Barcelona, Anja finally felt confident in bringing these no frill parties to Ibiza. During a recent interview with Anja, she explained to me her mission behind these parties: music, beach and bar. Simple.

With no admission or bouncers staring you down, the vibe walking into Santos Hotel was much more relaxed to any pool party I've previously attended in Ibiza. Situated at the back of the hotel, the poolside venue overlooks the beach of Playa d'en Bossa. Friend of Anja and special guest of the evening, Magdalena was behind the decks, wrapping up her tech house set for the intimate crowd mingling in front. Beginning my evening or relaxation, I managed to score my very own ocean front daybed and 5€ glass of wine - can't beat that!

The atmosphere was very easy going, hotel guests began to trickle in and conversations with strangers flowed naturally. Anja took control with an understated but creative take on tech, fitting the mood perfectly. Her excitement radiated off the booth, when dropping tracks such as Agents of Time Polina - a true beauty. Despite a sparse crowd, Anja managed to keep a group of party goers dancing right next to her all night, playing her own track Something That's For Life featuring the vocals of mobilee mainstay and LA based singer Cari Golden. The relaxed vibe of the party is extremely welcoming and I think with the right push it has potential to be a really successful party on the island this season.
